The weather in November gets a bad rap but I find it provides a lovely wee gift...🌧️✨

An excuse to not do much.

Sometimes a short wander around the forest, followed by a good book by the wood burning stove is just enough.

Sometimes ​when the rain hits the cabin roof and the temperature drops, it's like zero-guilt permission to slow down completely and not feel like you have to be busy.

A little quiet progress in the woods this week... 🌲✨

​🐥 Venturing out. The new hens have settled nicely into the coop and are finally taking their first brave steps into the big wide world.
​💐 Late-season blooms. is still filling the polytunnel with the most vibrant, beautiful flowers.
​🔥 The new firepit is officially ready for quiet autumn evenings under the stars.
​🔨 Opening up the view. Roger took down an old fence line by the Bunkhouse, making the pine forest feel even more open and inviting.
​🍁 Autumn arrives. Deep ambers and golds are starting to pop right across the site. What a beautiful time of year.

It all started when Roger found this vintage bedframe that had far too much character to throw away.

We carried it out to this quiet little clearing on the edge of the forest, a spot tucked away where the silhouette of the trees transitions into an endless canopy of sky.

We hope it offers a special corner here at The Lazy Duck. On a clear night it's a great spot to lie back and watch the stars. By day, it's not a bad wee book nook either.

The land holds centuries of hidden stories and they are just waiting to be shared🌲

​We are genuinely sooooo excited to share this one! We’ve been chatting with Sarah from Sarah Hobbs for a while now. The dream was to bring the incredibly rich and important stories that she so beautifully shares to the Abernethy Forest. And we are delighted to say that it's finally happening!!

​From autumn firepit tales and winter evenings under the stars, every Tuesday evening Sarah will now be weaving together folklore, history, and starlit mythology, complete with a warm cup of seasonal foraged tea, for an unforgettable experience in the Highlands. ☕📜
