The Dell of Abernethy sits within three acres of mature grounds on the edge of the Abernethy forest, 1 mile from the centre of Nethy Bridge. Built in 1780 for the head forester of Seafield estate, The Dell is surrounded by river flat grazing and dwarfed by 200 year old oak, horse chestnut and the fragrant Lime tree, which has been known to ‘calm ones nerves by simply walking beneath’. A labyrinth

of forest tracks leads out from the doorstep of The Dell, ideal for wildlife spotting, mountain biking and cross country ski-ing. A 30-minute drive will take you to the top of the Cairngorms, into the heart of Rothiemurchus or up into the wild moor lands en route to the Moray coast beaches. Nethy bridge village centre is a 20-minute walk from The Dell either by riverside walk, forest wander or scenic amble down the road taking in some of the beautiful architecture of old Nethy. The village, which has been a popular holiday favourite since the Victorian times remains unspoilt and is a quiet, friendly place. Our six charming stone cottages all have their own private aspect and sleep between two and seven guests. Four have been converted from the wings of the main house and have wood-burning stoves and a further two have been added in a garden bungalow. Dell Lodge sleeps up to nine guests and faces south with incredible views of the Cairngorms. All are set in safe secluded grounds and provide a peaceful escape and great base for exploring the wilds of the Cairngorm National Park

Duck down duvet and deep hot baths, birdsong and squirrels in the garden. Peaceful woodland hammocks, hearty junior adventures, scones, roses, rhubarb and petanque. Tim Lane (of Hidden Orchestra and a good friend of The Dell) and Freya Rae present Divergence, a captivating performance of original music inspired by traditional melodies and contemporary creativity. The tunes, written by Freya, blend flute, whistles, clarinet, tongue drum, percussion, and subtle electronic effects to create a rich, contemporary sound rooted in tradition.
Divergence celebrates the meeting of old and new through lyrical melodies, inventive arrangements, and immersive live performances.

Something a bit lovely and different!
Tim and Freya are also going to host a post performance jam session for anyone who would like to join, so please do bring along your instruments and keep the vibes going.

Doors and tipi bar open from 6.30pm with music starting around 7.30pm

Who is ready to deep dive into the delicious world of cheese making this Autumn?
We are delighted to welcome Kristen Allan back to the Dell, she belongs here really (!) but this time for an immersive week long residential.
Over the course of the week, guests will learn the art of cheese making, explore thoughtful, seasonal cooking, and share in the simple pleasure of preparing and eating food together. This immersive experience is designed for those who want to slow down, take a break from the pace of everyday life and ease into a slower, more considered way of living through food and place.

Days unfold gently - guided by hands-on making, long meals, and time spent outdoors in the surrounding forests and hills. Evenings draw in around the table, with good food, conversation, and a sense of ease that comes from being far from urgency.

There is something very special about the Hairy Coo… perhaps the reluctance to make eye contact.. they are exceptionally cute and calm and are the most welcome new neighbour of ours here at the Dell.
A gorgeous herd of around a dozen together with a few new wee and very fluffy ones too..

We are so delighted to be welcoming back the mesmerising and truly beautiful performer, Rachel Sermanni, to our tipi. She really is a favourite!!
