RiP our sweet Layla!!
With a very sad heart we want to let everyone and every guest who fell in love with Layla know that she passed away this morning.
She was battling a lung infection
She will be solely missed.
No words can say how heart broken we are.

**UPDATE at 11am on 25 July

Yesterday evening Police Scotland declared a major incident in relation to the ongoing wildfire in the Cairngorms National Park. Changing weather and wind conditions have made this a very dynamic situation.

• Last night Police Scotland contacted all properties in Nethy Bridge about evacuation, and properties in a small area north-west of Dorback Lodge (Lain Thatchan) are also being evacuated as a precaution. Residents who were evacuated should ensure their contact details are registered with support services.

• Residents of both areas are being directed to the designated Rest Centre at Macdonald Aviemore Resort, where there is support and advice available. Emergency accommodation is being provided to people who require it.

• The firebreak constructed to protect Nethy Bridge has been completed, and progress is being made in creating other fire breaks to prevent the spread of the fire.

• Residents in Tomintoul are advised to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution due to smoke from the wildfire.

Overnight we have seen an incredible response from the local community who have rallied at a very difficult time to provide food, shelter and support for their neighbours. Our thanks go to all those who have supported this effort and, as ever, to those who have been working around the clock to tackle this wildfire since it began 10 days ago.

Please continue to avoid the affected areas while firefighting operations remain ongoing. The area remains unsafe due to active firefighting operations, rapidly changing fire behaviour and helicopter activity.

**UPDATE 14:05 on 17 July

Firefighting efforts remain ongoing, with crews on scene from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, NGO partners, local contractors, gamekeepers, estate workers and farmers working through the night. Two helicopters are now on scene, alongside nine appliances and a range of specialist equipment including a high volume pump.

Cordons remain in place, and people are asked to avoid Glenmore, Abernethy, Loch Morlich and nearby areas. A number of properties and visitor centres remain evacuated as a precaution due to their proximity to the incident. Any further evacuation measures will continue to be assessed.

The latest update from Scottish Fire and Rescue Service indicates that Aviemore is no longer in the immediately affected location at this point in time. Businesses in the area are open and ready to welcome visitors.

Efforts are being targeted to contain the spread of the fire, and establish firebreaks. Offers of additional resources are appreciated, however these are not required at this time. If any specific offers of support are required, we will share this information on our Facebook and Instagram.

As ever, our thanks go to all those on the frontline, working tirelessly to protect the National Park. We know that the wildfire is having a considerable impact on local residents, visitors and businesses in the area, and we are grateful for everybody’s continued support.

**UPDATE - 14:15 on 16 July

Emergency services and partners continue to tackle a large-scale fire near Ryvoan Bothy. The emergency response is being coordinated at a national level involving the Scottish Government, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Police Scotland, RSPB Scotland, Forestry and Land Scotland, the Park Authority and multiple other partners.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have shared that the fire is currently affecting an area of approximately six squared kilometres. We are asking the public to follow the following guidance:

- Please do not travel to the area or attempt to access Glenmore Forest Park, Loch Morlich or the surrounding area while firefighting operations are ongoing. A strict cordon remains in place and road closures continue to support the emergency response.
- Those impacted by evacuations will have been contacted and we would ask everyone to cooperate fully with Police Scotland and other relevant authorities for their safety.
- Residents in Aviemore and surrounding areas are asked to close windows and doors to prevent smoke entering.
-Anyone with known respiratory conditions nearby is encouraged to contact 111 if they experience any difficulties. Contact 999 in an emergency.

Thermal drone footage captured by Park Authority staff last night has helped inform fire fighting efforts and highlight the scale of the fire, but the extent of the damage and the cause is not yet known.

Overnight emergency services, gamekeepers, NGO and estate staff were on the scene working tirelessly to control the fire. We are deeply grateful for their efforts, and those of the businesses and local community providing support to those affected.
