Now our female duck has narrowed down her suitors to one. He faithfully guards her and seems very protective. When we give them food he stands next to her, looking around while she gobbles as much as she wants. Only when she has had her fill, popping into the water if the odd gulp of pond water to wash it down, does he take any. Then she’s back off onto the island to where we suspect she’s sitting on her eggs. He sits in the water nearby keeping guard… very sweet to see. Hoping for the patter of tiny webbed feet soon! 🥰🐥

Of course it could be the better weather, but after a quiet season outlook, we removed the 'clever' price optimisation tool on our booking channel manager, we've suddenly been inundated with bookings!! Filling up very quickly now, so if you fancy a trip to Devon Heaven make sure you get in there quickly!

We usually have a pair of moorhens, who have chicks, and a few wild ducks with ducklings every year, but they're usually very shy and fly off as soon as they see us.... but this year they must have come from a village pond or somewhere else where they get fed as they're super friendly!! 🥰 They come quickly swimming up and run out of the pond towards us as soon as we appear... so feeding them with some decent quality wild bird seed has become our new lunchtime ritual!! Hope they have ducklings soon!! 😍

Okay, we're finally moving ourselves out of The Loft, back into the house after some necessary renovation work, so we're taking bookings again! A quick reminder to our guest to stay clear of the cliffs on the beaches near us... lots of rockfalls recently, and you really can't tell when they're about to happen... if you do see one even from a distance, just move quickly further away... standing to watch can be fatal as this vid shows. Always set up camp somewhere safe 😊
