Ayr is great location for a holiday base for visitors to the area. There are so many interesting places nearby, you will be spoilt for choice. Let me introduce you to one place, Dunure. This pretty wee fishing village is only about 5 miles south of Woodcroft Cottages, so only a very short drive. Dunure offers a lovely old Scottish harbour that some might recognise, as it was featured in the hugely successful Outlander TV miniseries by Diana Gabaldon.

Within a short walk from the harbour you can discover the ruins of Dunure Castle, which is next to a picnic area, with a small child's play park and public toilets. Just a wee bit further along from the castle there is the very mystical Dunure Labyrinth which is made up of a series of ground level stone circles. Interesting for adults, and the kids love to weave their way through circular paths between the stone circles.

Our lovely Dairy Cottage sleeps 6 people in 3 bedrooms with access suitable for partially abled guests, and is only a 5 min walk to the centre of Ayr. Built in 1840 this converted milk dairy offers a traditional Scottish building with modern spacious interiors and fittings.

Only a 10 minute drive from Prestwick Airport, our Garden Cottage holiday home sleeps 6 people and is only a 6 minute walk (2 minute drive) from Prestwick's main shopping and restaurant area.

Prestwick still features many independent shops, bars and restaurants, all clustered around the main street and within a short stroll from each other.

From Woodcroft Cottage it is only a short stroll to many of these eating and drinking places.

One of the nearest is The Terrace Bar & Kitchen where you can start the day with a delicious breakfast, with great menu options for lunch and dinner too.
