Badrallach Campsite, Bothy & Cottage

Badrallach Campsite, Bothy & Cottage A Campsite, Holiday Cottage & Camping barn (the "bothy") in the stunningly beautiful Scottish Highlands near Ullapool A luxury bothy if you like.

Badrallach Campsite, Bothy & Cottage is comprised from a campsite, bunkhouse and holiday cottage. We attract people from all over the globe and many people become addicted to the peace and quiet and the rare air of the Scoraig Peninsula. A hill-walkers dream as we are surrounded by Munros and Corbetts from An Teallach across the loch to Beinn Ghobhlach on our side of Little Loch Broom. The wildlif

e diversity is nothing short of spectacular - what you can see around here cycles throughout the year. We have sunsets and clouds to take your breath away. The weather can be crazy, but it has the bonus of making the scenery look fresh and new every hour some days. On a clear night the milky way makes a stark appearance and the Andromeda Galaxy is easily visible to the naked eye. It would be easy to go on...but the most important thing we should mention is that it is incredibly rare to see someone who does not enjoy staying here! New management started for the 2017 season and are working towards refreshing and revitalising the site...Without overdoing it or making any drastic changes! Expect to find more foraging plants, bee-friendly plants, local wildlife information amongst other things in 2018! Here are some important details on our accommodation:

The campsite has 12 main grass pitches for tents and campervans, but all vehicles must be under 6 metres. The site is on a gentle slope so some people favour taking levellers to the site. The last few pitches are small tent pitches sheltered amongst the gorse - very much favoured by wild campers! There is no vehicular access to these pitches, but there are places are the site to park. There is also space for 4 electric hookups on site. There are toilets and showers on site for everyone's use. Campsite fees: £6/adult/night; £3/child/night (infants under 2 go free); £3/vehicle/campervan/night; £3 per electric hookup/night. Bothy: The 'bothy' is somewhere between a bothy and bunkhouse. The bothy sleeps up to 12 people - you must bring your own sleeping bags and mats as there are no actual beds, but spaces on the floor and a mezzanine (top bunk!) designated for sleeping areas. We have a simple cooking area beside the bothy, containing a large sink, shelves for food and a small fridge/freezer. The toilets and showers are for everyone's use. The bothy is a self-catering facility. It is useful to phone ahead with any enquiries so as to avoid disappointment is the accommodation is privately booked or full. The bothy accommodates multiple guests at any one time, much like a hostel. Bothy fees: £10/person/night (infants under 2 go free); £2/vehicle/night; Sole use/Private Bookings are £100 per night or £150 over Christmas and New Year. Pottery Cottage: This old stone cottage was modernised by the previous campsite owners - it is very much unique in character and has been a favourite of many repeat customers over the years. It sleeps four (the beds can be pushed together to make comfortable doubles) and we are flexible with bookings. It has it's own private garden which is currently being landscaped so you can watch the colours change throughout the year! Enquiries should be made by phone or email. Pre-booking is essential. Fees are variable dependant upon time of the year and length of stay. The prices are between £50-£58 per night and a little more at Christmas and New Year. Please get in touch for more information!

Nice day for it. 8 tons of gravel shifted, and all the grass mowed, the sun came out for a few days... So we're ready to open up a bit more again after weather and soft ground postponed everything a bit.

Now, it's gonna be about whether you can afford the fuel to get here 😅😭⛽🤷🙏 🤦

After 4+ years of not being able to find a driver who would deliver aggregates here, we finally got some yesterday to start fixing the track and potholes properly. Thank you Pat Munro. Remote living brings way more challenges than you'd ever consider so I'm incredibly grateful, if not sore today! We'll do more at the end of the year, renew the old parking spots, and create a couple more so that the wild pitches are more accessible, and turn the EHU pitches into semi-hard standings so that getting stuck on the grass at Badrallach is never a thing again.

Plywood bathroom anyone? A rather epic paint job was needed in the facilities to put an end to the never-ending battle of mould speading on porous wood. It looks a lot fresher now, praise be to the camping gods.

Tell you what, those are my least favorite windows to clean 😂

It's not in my business interests to share petitions, but the cost of living is getting outrageous and our system seems to be getting more broken and lopsided by the day. Something needs to change, and a most obvious thing is to put taxes in the correct places.

Millions across the UK are already struggling just to get by. Bills are rising, wages aren’t keeping up, and families are being pushed to the brink. As the impacts of the Iran war ripple through the global economy, things are set to get even worse. This illegal war has caused chaos, devastation an...

NOTICE: Due to the awful weather and copious amounts of rain over the last couple of months, our campsite grass is suffering the consequences. We've had to pause bookings for the site for the rest of April, and sadly I've messaged those who are coming over the next few days to cancel as I'm just not confident folk won't get stuck and the grass will get churned up even more.

I apologise for any inconvenience, and I will keep everyone updated as much as possible. We need a dry spell and for the grass to grow in a little before this situation resolves quickly.

Thanks,

Chris

The very latest cottage review 😊 posted on Google yesterday:

What a lovely wee cottage, cosy with the log burner, adequate for me and my dog shadow to chill out after a difficult few years. In a perfect spot, we saw eagles ,deer, and my favourite mountains didn't disappoint, covered in snow and as impressive now at 65 as they were when I was a small child. Thanks for the oportunity Chris, for me to relive a lifetime of memories. I hope to come back sometime soon.

We finally have a wood supply back! A few years of "nearby" (ahem) suppliers appearing and disappearing was a pain in the bum, but a new chainsaw means we're back in business and I've plenty dry wood to cut for the cottage. Another issue of suppliers to remote places solved. 💪

Also, 9 years of tackling the gorse with a bow saw over a couple of acres can finally come to an end 😅 who says I don't care? 😂

The latest review from a regular visitor! My neighbour's collie is becoming somewhat famous on site XD

Used the cottage a few times and it is always a joy even if the weather is bad...Got another visit from the collie dog to play ball. If you like it quiet then this is the place.

Hello folks, and happy new year! In case it isn't obvious, please don't book for camping whilst there is snow or attempt to travel when there's even a threat of it. It doesn't matter how confident a driver you are or how experienced a camper, if you're stuck, you're stuck. The met office forecast is pretty accurate, so make the right decision and stay safe 🙏

Hey folks, I'll be closing the campground during November and review throughout the rest of the winter time. The grass just isn't suitable for campers after a LOT of rain this last couple of weeks, meaning it's in nobody's interest to risk parking and getting stuck.

The bothy and cottage will have shut periods over the coming weeks as we do maintenance and have some uninterrupted family time. During these closed periods the work phone will be off* and those with existing bookings can get in touch via email. Rest assured if you do have a booking you will receive all the relevant details I good time, and I will be available by phone on those days.

*praise the sweet lord baby Jesus, for it is hard for an introvert to have the constant threat of work calls all day every day. XD

PLEASE do not attempt to travel to us today! I'm still getting calls with people who haven't arranged any place to stay during the storm. Travelling over the exposed roads like the Fain and badrallach road is a terrible idea until the storm passes.
