Dan and Casper of the Bull in Ashford have just taken over the The White Lion, Great Longstone. Great that this historic pub has re-opened. On a summer evening it is only a 20 minute walk through the fields from Churchdale.

Delighted to read in The Times newspaper over the weekend that they had judged our local village, Ashford-in-the-Water as one of the top 25 Prettiest Villages in the UK. Ashford's Sheepwash Bridge is said to be one of the most photographed bridges in the UK too!

Congratulations and good luck to our village pub The Ashford Arms which has been short listed in the Best Country Pub section by the Great British Pub Awards. It is only a 20 minute walk through the fields from Churchdale and our guests have really enjoyed visiting it.

It is the annual Well Dressing week in Ashford. 6 wells have been decorated , the theme is authors. There are 14 displays in the church depicting Derbyshire Folk. The displays are on show until Sunday, 22nd, so if you haven't already visit do come.

Spring has arrived in Derbyshire and Chatsworth House re-opens its door on 15th March. We still have some vacancies in the cottages, so why not treat yourself to a short break? The theme at Chatsworth House this year should appeal to all gardeners, 'Flowers in all their Forms, The Gorgeous Nothings.

What a difference a week makes! Last week we had snow and this week we have the first sign of spring with these gorgeous aconites bursting into flower.
