BIG RANT INCOMING!
So, some of you will already know a few years ago I opened a 10 pitch caravan site on my farm. All grass pitches, no big infrastructure, just a field with water, electric and somewhere to dispose of waste.
After realising there was a call for the site, I submitted retrospective planning into the Peak Park. Even with plenty of local support and the backing of local councillors the Peak Park refused us.
Our application then went to the planning committee. At no point was I informed I could have gone along to that meeting to have my say or given the option to write a statement that would have been read out at the meeting, therefore my application was unsupported, and was again refused.
I’m now appealing this decision, but this didn’t even come easily. After the planning committee meeting neither myself of the planner working on my behalf were formally informed of the decision. After a few months I had a phone call asking if we were planning on appealing as ‘we hadn’t responded to their correspondence’… as it turns out someone at the Peak Park had sent everything to an email address that hadn’t been used for nearly a decade instead of the email addresses that had been used for the past 18 months of our application. How this happened we don’t really know but this is just unacceptable.
After working out where the issue lay the Peak Park did agree to give us a bit more time to get the appeal together which is where I’m up to now.
Unknown to me Matthew Lodge who writes for the Derby Telegraph had seen our appeal and investigated it and has written this article. Please give it a read and share! I’ll leave it in the comments.
The Peak Park are pro tourism and pro agriculture, but they don’t seem to like the two getting involved with each other...
Fingers crossed my application will eventually get passed if anyone would be kind enough to leave a few words on our application I shall leave the link to our application here.
Please be aware that the information below may not be complete in terms of appeal decisions, enforcement notices and appeals and legal decisions made by courts relating to the application.
