Ty Beic

Ty Beic Holiday cottages in North Wales for mountain lovers 'Ty’ is Welsh for house and ‘beic’ is Welsh for bike.

I chose the name because I am obsessed by cycling in all of its forms. I chose this area because it offers some of the finest mountain biking and road cycling in the UK. I have restored two stone barns to provide luxury holiday cottages in North Wales. Situated in the hamlet of Sarnau, 4 miles from the market town of Bala, the accommodation is the perfect base to explore all that North Wales has t

o offer. Ty Beic is approximately 30 minutes drive from the mountain bike centres of Coed y Brenin, Llandegla, Antur Stiniog (Blaenau Ffestiniog), Revolution Bike Park (Llangynog) and the Gwydir and Penmachno MTB trails. The area is also superb for road cycling, with quiet country roads, beautiful scenery and epic climbs (and descents) on the doorstep.

The Tour of Britain came to town
Cycled out to Nebo to make some noise but forgot my cowbell
By that point the race had blown apart
The hills of North Wales had done their job

Trading two wheels for four paws today. 🌲🐾

This is usually my gravel bike route, but today it belonged to Jac (12, still showing how it’s done) and Jess (3, equal parts chaos and cuteness).

One of my favourite views. I think it’s the contrast between the dry stone wall, the mountains and the sky.

Only 9 miles from Ty Beic as the crow flies. A bit further if you take the scenic off-road gravel route, but that just makes the view even sweeter.

This review was too good not to share. 💛

There’s still some summer availability if you’d like to experience the same stay that made Jackie so happy.

The Stable is also available next week due to a cancellation.
It’s the perfect place to stay with your dog when the temperatures rise. The cottage stays lovely and cool, and there are walks straight from the door across fields and hills, avoiding hot roads and pavements. There’s even a secret lake just a short walk away.

13 years ago I swapped the hills of South London for the mountains of North Wales
To mark the occasion I went on a bike ride over some mountains and around a lake.

I then took the hounds for a pre solstice walk to Caer Euni hill fort

It reminded me why I moved here.

Jac was 12 a couple weeks ago. Yesterday he walked 13 miles and 40,000 steps.
There’s still life in the old dog.
