Week Nine: 👷🏼‍♂️👷🏼‍♂️🔨

We’re getting closer. I had quite a lot of work on this week, which took my attention away from Coorie Doon, but one must do the former to fund the latter.

Nonetheless the lovely new bedding began to make an appearance, the new signage arrived, a few more items found their way into the kitchen, and the weather was dry enough to allow me to paint the fences…

They may be baby steps, but they’re in the right direction…

Week Eight: 👷🏼‍♂️👷🏼‍♂️🔨

The boys came back to turn the sow’s ear of an outside space into a silk purse.

Inside more furniture arrived to test my Tetris skills. Fortunately my measuring was spot on and everything fitted where I’d hoped it would… just! 📏🤏👌🏼

Week Seven: 👷🏼‍♂️👷🏼‍♂️🔨

The boys were due back in a week or two to finish up on the outside, so there was a bit of a lull in proceedings. On the inside some of the finishing touches started to arrive… 🛌🪞🖼️

While many of you in the UK are sweltering due the hottest bank holiday weekend ever, and perhaps worrying about how you’ll sleep tonight (I can highly recommend popping the dog’s cool mat under your bottom sheet, although this only really works if you have a big dog like Moose… a chihuahua’s cool mat isn’t really up to the job) I thought I’d help you all to chill out a bit with a few pics of the hill directly behind Coorie Doon, taken last January.

So, why travel away from home in the summer months, when it’s warm and sunny? How about a winter break in a place where winter means winter, and the views look like this?

Week Six: 👷🏼‍♂️👷🏼‍♂️🔨

The inside of Coorie Doon was almost ‘there’ by week six, aside from some finishing off, and some snagging. This meant that most of the action took place on the outside.

The rendered walls needed to be jet-washed clean and re-painted, the bare stone walls needed a jolly good blast too, and the dangerous, self-seeded trees that overshadowed the courtyard, had to go… 🌳🪓

Would you prefer a beach holiday to a holiday in the mountains? 🏖️vs🏔️ Why choose? Why not have your cake and eat it?

What if I told you that these stunning beaches lie just over an hour from Coorie Doon? Would it give you an extra reason to come and stay in one of the most beautiful places in the UK… like you need one.

Coorie Doon sits to the side of Loch Leven, so if you visit us the coastline is just a few steps from your front door. However, just over an hour further north from our soon to be available micro-cottage you can find the perfectly white sands, turquoise seas, and spectacular views, that make these arguably some of the finest beaches in the land.

So, don’t just come to Scotland for her mountains… come for her beaches too… 💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Week Five: 👷🏼‍♂️👷🏼‍♂️🔨

The inside of Coorie Doon was treated to its second coat of Farrow & Ball. Lots of little jobs were completed, so while it doesn’t look like a lot happened during this week, lots did.

However some of the action that happened during week five was on the outside. Our little micro cottage didn’t have any outside space of its own, so we dismantled the lean-to that was attached to the east side of the property, with a view to making a small, but very private, terrace area.

Why book a Norwegian cruise, or trek all the way to Lapland, in search of the northern lights?

Why not book a few nights in Coorie Doon and check out our stunning Scottish skies instead? 🌌

There is nothing so spectacular as the aurora borealis, and with two Velux windows above your cosy bed, you can choose to leave the blinds open and fall asleep while watching the skies for Mother Nature’s greatest light show. You never know, you may get lucky… 😉

Week Four: 👷🏼‍♂️👷🏼‍♂️🔨

The nice bits started to go in this week, and so our little space really began to warm up and to take shape. It’s the strangest thing, but small spaces look bigger the moment they are furnished, and the same is true of Coorie Doon. It was hard to believe a kitchen would fit into this tiny space, but it does. It even has room for a washer/dryer so our future guests can start each hike feeling as fresh as a daisy. 🥾+🧦=🫢➡️🧺=🌼!

Would you stay in a holiday home that had all this within a ten minute drive?

Coorie Doon, Glencoe is located in what we believe to be heaven on earth. All of these stunning places are no more than ten minutes away by car, which means that if you have a half decent pair of boots, and your four-legged friend is willing, you could walk to them all from right here, should the mood take you. 🥾 🐕🐾🐾

It’s views-a-go-go around these parts. Which one would you want to see first?
