Pearls of Wisdom: visiting Glencoe outside the summer months
If you’re planning a trip to Glencoe in autumn, a few practical things are worth knowing before you set off.
🥾 Pack for the conditions, not the forecast. Waterproofs, warm layers and good footwear are worth having with you. If you’re heading into the hills, always check the conditions first.
🌤️ Keep an eye on daylight. The days shorten quickly through autumn, so allow plenty of time for walks and getting back before dark.
🚗 Start early. Popular spots such as the Three Sisters, Glencoe Lochan and viewpoints along the A82 can still get busy, particularly at weekends.
☕ Check before you set off. Some smaller attractions, cafés and businesses change their opening hours outside the main season.
And finally, don’t wait for a perfectly clear day. Mist, rain and low cloud are very much part of Glencoe, and often completely change the landscape.
