🦉 What a way to start the day…

This morning, after feeding our chicks, we looked up and were greeted by this wonderful Little owl sitting proudly outside the owl box.

This owl box was installed in partnership with Catherine , and seeing it being used is so much more than just a lovely wildlife moment. It’s an encouraging sign that the habitat we’re creating is beginning to support the species we hope to see.

Little owls rely on healthy, diverse landscapes. They need insects, beetles, small mammals, old trees and connected habitats to thrive. Their presence is a reminder that when nature is given the opportunity, it often responds.

At Lower Nill Farm, our goal is to produce nutrient-rich food while restoring the health of the land. Through regenerative grazing, planting thousands of trees, creating wildlife habitats and working with nature rather than against it, we’re trying to build a farm where wildlife and farming flourish side by side.

It’s still early in that journey, but moments like this make all the hard work worthwhile.

A huge thank you to Catherine at Hooky in Harmony for helping us create a home for this beautiful little owl. Here’s hoping it’s the first of many wildlife success stories on the farm. 💚🦉

I just find it fun how the two cows are looking at me and strikes me there are quite a few now, which I love - things are so beautiful with them 💚

Pasture-raised beef, straight from our farm in Hook Norton 🐄🌱

Our Aberdeen Angus cattle are raised slowly on diverse pasture, grazing fresh grass every day and living exactly as cows should — outdoors, moving regularly across the farm and exhibiting their natural behaviours.

By mob grazing and rotating them frequently, we’re not only improving animal welfare, but also building healthier soils, encouraging biodiversity, and naturally fertilising the land. It’s regenerative farming that benefits both the environment and the food on your plate.

The result?
Beef with incredible flavour, natural marbling, and packed with nutrients including Omega 3, Vitamin A & E — all without growth hormones or unnecessary additives.

Fresh pasture day for the hens 🌱🐔

Moving our chickens onto fresh grass gives them the chance to scratch, peck, dust bathe and forage just as chickens naturally should. The fresh pasture also provides a varied diet alongside their feed, while their manure helps return nutrients back into the soil and fertilise the field naturally.

It’s all part of how we farm here at Lower Nill Farm — working with nature, not against it.
