FOOD WASTE 😔

We found all of this food discarded in the bins on our campsite in one morning.

We’re talking about around £35–£40 worth of food — bread, eggs, bacon, sausages, chicken, potato salad, sauces, rolls and snacks.

What’s particularly frustrating is that much of this food appears to have been perfectly usable when it was thrown away.

We completely understand that plans change, food gets left over and sometimes things genuinely need to be disposed of. But please, don’t throw good food into the campsite bins simply because you don’t want to take it home.

If you have food left at the end of your stay:
🍞 Ask us if there is somewhere it can be donated or passed on
🥚 Take it home if it is still safe to eat
🥫 Leave unopened, suitable items with us and we can look at ways of preventing them going to waste
♻️ Please dispose of waste responsibly

As a small campsite, we pay for waste disposal and food waste adds considerably to that cost. More importantly, seeing this amount of perfectly good food thrown away is incredibly disappointing when there are people who could make use of it.

£38 of food in one bin is a lot of waste.

Please help us reduce unnecessary food waste and leave only what genuinely needs to be disposed of. 💚
