This route follows the Llwybr Arfordir Cymru / Wales Coast Path over Barmouth bridge before following the estuary around to the end of the Fairbourne railway. Here a small ferry can be used (Easter to October) to make the short crossing back to Barmouth.

🚦 Difficulty: Easy

This walking route is part of Transport for Wales Trafnidiaeth Cymru's partnership with Ramblers Cymru which saw the launch of 22 new station walks.

A North Wales pub situated close to a famous toll bridge has been named the best in the country. The National Pub & Bar Awards identifies the finest drinking spots across the UK.

The national award for Wales went to a site with a fascinating history and iconic location. Rewind just over two centuries and the George III at Penmaenpool was supplying thirsty boat builders at the dock on the Afon Mawddach. As the ship industry faded the train arrived in the 1860s and the site became a station on the Cambrian Railway. A century later and the station was abandoned in the Beeching cuts - having to reinvent itself all over again. The ticket office and waiting rooms became en-suite living accommodation for the pub hotel. The signal box was used by the RSPB as an observation post and the old railway line became the beautiful Mawddach trail.🥰 🍻➡️ https://crnch.it/mp1GqZOT
