It's nearly 16 years since we moved into Bryn Melyn, then a guest house. In that time we've seen it rise to the heights of TripAdvisor and initiated the conversion into our frankly gorgeous self-catering apartments. But our journey here has come to an end. This is our last week as owners and proprietors of Bryn Melyn and on Friday this week we will take our leave of this remarkable and beautiful property. We are delighted that we will be handing over Bryn Melyn to a lovely local family who are truly excited to be taking over, and we know that they will make you feel every bit as welcome as we have tried to do since 2009. Everyone loves a steam locomotive, (or at least, anyone with a soul!), and here in north Wales we are blessed with a cornucopia of steam locomotives! Two days ago we shared a picture taken from the old harbour in Barmouth facing towards the 'back' side of the famous bridge. However the old harbour just keeps giving as if you turn to face the other way you get this wonderful view of another of Barmouth's iconic structures, the Clock House. We're just too fabulous for words sometimes here in Barmouth....

The vast majority of pictures of Barmouth's iconic railway bridge are taken from the town side, with the majestic backdrop of Cader Idris in the background. But a short walk can bring you to the old harbour which offers a completely different but equally delightful aspect.

I know we keep banging on about the fabulous views from our apartments and it's true - the living rooms and main bedrooms all have the most amazing outlook. But what about the two twin rooms? Well they may not have the extensive outlooks of the other rooms but they look out onto the woodland behind Bryn Melyn, full of colour at this time of year and full of wildlife all year round. Rest assured, our 'second bedrooms' are anything but 'second best'.

This might look like a Norwegian fjord or somewhere in the Canadian wilderness but it's actually just across Barmouth's iconic bridge, right by Mawddach Crescent. You can walk here from Barmouth in around 30 minutes of gorgeousness. Something to add to your bucket list....
