It's the only seaside town in Britain like it - they're all independent! 🍻☕
New research from Simply Sea Views uncovered the independent seaside spots by ranking 50 coastal destinations by how much of their high street is made up of locally owned shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs. 🌊
While Falmouth took the top spot, ahead of St Ives and Whitby, the Welsh town of Barmouth made its way into the top 10, at a proud number six. As it turns out, Barmouth is the only seaside town where 100% of the cafés and pubs are independently owned. It's a fact that locals should be proud of. ❤️
The rankings were built from the proportion of shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs that are locally owned in each one, including customer ratings, and the number of independent businesses per resident. It drew on over 20,000 individual businesses across the UK and gives them a score out of 100.
Barmouth's overall score was 79.1 – a town that thrives on independence. 💪
