High Force This Afternoon

High Force was absolutely wild this afternoon — the kind of roar you feel in your chest before you even reach the viewpoint. With all the recent rain, the Tees was in full fury, throwing itself over the Whin Sill like it had something to prove.

What I love about High Force is how it never looks the same twice. Some days it’s a neat curtain of white water. Today? A thundering, copper-coloured wall, split cleanly by that stubborn block of ancient rock that’s been stood there for 300 million years, refusing to budge. Nature doing nature things — dramatic, loud and completely mesmerising.

One of those views you could watch for hours.
