🌟 Volunteers’ Week 2026 🌟

As we begin Volunteer Week, we want to take a moment to celebrate our truly incredible team of volunteers. Quite simply, we couldn't do what we do without you!

These photos are from Christmas Day, when our amazing volunteers gave up their own time with family and friends to support others in their community. From providing transport and preparing meals, to laying tables, washing up, and bringing joy and companionship throughout the day every role made a difference.

We are endlessly grateful to each and every one of you for your kindness, generosity, and dedication. Thank you for everything you do, not just at Christmas, but all year round. ❤️

Happy Volunteer Week, this week is all about celebrating you!

❤️✨

What a fantastic time in Wensleydale with our Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh young people out on expedition. Nine Golds and seventeen Silvers is a huge undertaking logistically and a real achievement for the whole group.

The mix of the Yorkshire Dales scenery, long hot days outdoors, and the shared challenge tends to make those The Duke of Edinburgh's Award trips memorable for years 🙌🏻✨

Thank you to the leaders and volunteers for giving up your time to make this happen.

What an incredible achievement for Libby, Connor, Amelia and Georgia, who attended Buckingham Palace on Friday to celebrate completing their Gold, Duke of Edinburgh Award. This special occasion marked the end of a remarkable 6-year journey filled with volunteering, expeditions, developing new skills and pushing themselves to achieve their goals. Alongside parents and leaders, they enjoyed an unforgettable day in the Palace Gardens, meeting inspirational guests including Vikram Singh Barn, David Seaman, Molly Rainford, Tyler West and Sara Davies MBE.
With the sun shining over the Palace grounds, it was a truly memorable day and a fantastic celebration of all their hard work, commitment and dedication.
Congratulations to all four of you on this outstanding achievement you should be incredibly proud! 🎉

💚✨ Well done to everyone who rocked that parade yesterday in the extreme heat 😎🥵 all who dressed up and took part, you all looked amazing. The activity tipi was a huge hit again and we made 539274 badges on the Demesnes 😆 Awesome to see Tom doing his magic over at the stage too.

Flashback to the Mini Meet! 🎥

https://youtu.be/Xo3NN-VwfD4

We dedicate this film to Pamela Dixon and all those who have made Barnard Castle Meet a wonderful community event and great fun in years gone by.

The Meet, as it is known locally, has grown from the North East Cyclists’ Meet dating back to 1885, and since the early 1900s the town has staged a carnival and grand procession through the town centre on the bank holiday Monday. The weekend is now probably the largest event in the and Teesdale calendar.

However, it was cancelled again in 2021 due to the Covid pandemic. The team at decided to help our community mark the occasion by creating something special together and also to share memories from years gone by. And this is the result…. a handmade parade with a film to share it with the world…. and we hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it!

Welcome to the Mini Meet, Barnard Castle's homemade, upcycled parad...
