Staying with us this month? Check out the Appledoreinstowferry timetable and plan a little trip across the estuary while you’re exploring North Devon.

It’s a lovely way to explore both sides of the water. Walk or cycle from the campsite to Instow, hop on the ferry and spend a few hours discovering Appledore during your stay.

Don’t you just love camping in September? 🍂

The school holidays may be over, but there’s still plenty of summer left to enjoy. Days on the beach, bike rides along the Tarka Trail, coastal walks, pub lunches in Instow and evenings relaxing back at your pitch.

And with just four weeks of our 2026 camping season left, there’s still time to squeeze in one last North Devon escape before we close at the end of September. 🏕️

Fancy one more camping trip before the season ends?

📍 Just how far do our campers travel to stay with us?
Quite a long way, as it turns out!

We love hearing where our campers have travelled from and what’s brought them to North Devon over the years.

So we decided to plot it all on the map… and we love the result 💚

Every pin on these maps represents real camper data, with visitors travelling to Tarka Trail Camping from across the UK, Europe and even the USA. 🇬🇬🇧 🇪🇺 🇺🇸

There’s something special about seeing just how far our little campsite in North Devon reaches.

How far have you travelled to stay with us? Tell us in the comments - we’d love to know!

🍦We love ice cream at Tarka Trail Camping - especially when it’s made locally.

We stock Farmer Tom's dairy ice cream, produced in Holsworthy, ready for an afternoon treat, something sweet after a day exploring, or simply because you’re on holiday and ice cream is practically compulsory. 😋

Pop into Reception and see what flavours we’ve got in the freezer ☀️🍦

🚴🥾 Travelling through North Devon on two wheels or two feet?

Our dedicated camping area for cyclists and walkers is your perfect pit stop on the trail. A peaceful, sheltered spot to pitch your tent, rest tired legs and recharge before the next stretch of your adventure.

And the best bit? We’re right on your route.

Tarka Trail Camping sits directly on the Tarka Trail, The South West Coast Path, Devon Coast to Coast and EuroVelo 1 routes. Simply come off the trail through our private gate and relax.

After a long day, you’ll find hot showers, sheltered pitches, a covered shelter, device charging, benches and picnic tables waiting for you.

Whether you’re tackling an epic long-distance route or spending a few days exploring North Devon, we think we’ve got one of the best spots around to stop for the night.

Pitch up, recharge and carry on. 🚴🥾

“Honestly, the nicest campsite I have ever stayed at!”

Well, this review made our day (and we tend to agree!!) 💚
A huge thank you to Benn for such lovely words after staying with us this August.

If you’re thinking about squeezing in a North Devon camping trip before summer is over, August availability is now very limited. We still have good availability for September, when things are a little quieter and it’s a lovely time to explore the Tarka Trail and North Devon.

One question we get asked A LOT… “Can we bring the dog?” 🐾
Absolutely!

There’s no need to leave the four-legged member of the family at home when you stay at Tarka Trail Camping. We’re a dog-friendly campsite and love welcoming four-legged campers. Better still, there’s no extra charge for dogs when you stay with us and you’ll find handy doggy clips outside our shower block for when you need them.

We’ve got the Tarka Trail right on our doorstep, with miles of walks to explore and plenty of dog-friendly cafés and pubs nearby - so there’s no shortage of places to discover together.

So yes… bring the dog! 🐶🐾
They deserve a North Devon camping adventure too.

🚴 Little legs, big adventure! 🇫🇷

It was lovely to welcome the Brachet family to Tarka Trail Camping for a well-earned rest as part of their cycling adventure from France to Plymouth, and on to Ilfracombe along the Devon Coast to Coast route.

This is a fantastic 99 mile route linking Devon’s south and north coasts. Following National Cycle Route 27, it takes cyclists through some of the county’s best scenery and links together the Drake’s Trail, Granite Way and Tarka Trail, with well over half of the route traffic-free.

And with the route passing right by us on the Tarka Trail, we’re perfectly placed for an overnight stop, a hot shower and a chance to give those legs a rest before the final stretch towards Ilfracombe!

Bon voyage, Brachet family! 🇫🇷🚴 We hope you enjoy the rest of your North Devon adventure.
