Woodland Cottages Very dog friendly self-catering holiday accommodation in North Devon In 1994 the 8 acre woodland to the north of the property was planted.

Woodland Cottages form part of West Woodlands - a 17th Century farmstead that was a working farm until the early 1970s. It was then that the listed farmhouse was modernised although the long run of barns set in the surrounding 24 acres remained largely untouched. In 2004 the listed stone and cob barns were sympathetically converted to form three high quality cottages facing away from the farmhouse all with outstanding rural views towards Exmoor.

Woodland cottages is the perfect place for dogs to be in a heatwave. The stone cottages are nice and cool and dogs love the nice cool tiled floors. The woodland provides shade with no tarmac so no burnt paws. And of course with so many great beaches to choose from, the dogs love nothing more than the cool breeze across their ears and a dip in the beautiful ocean.

Is seems like a funny time to be thinking about Christmas and New Year in the middle of a heatwave. But we still have availability across Christmas and New Year if anyone would like to treat themselves to a Christmas at Woodland Cottages? The Hunters Inn does a very popular Christmas dinner but it does book up early.

Owl cottage spruce up - over the winter we employed some local builders to strip back and re-waterproof the walls. They have also re-plastered with a smooth finish this time 🤣 and we have re-painted white for a fresher look. We are hoping to slowly do this across all of the cottages over the next couple of years. So watch this space.

I can't quiet believe it's taken us 8 years but we finally got around to going on the Instow to Appledore Ferry. Dogs are welcome on board and it's a great way to get across the estuary to explore the beautiful villages of Appledore and Instow. We went crabbing in Appledore and caught lots of crabs so can definitely recommend it as a good spot. Here are the ferry times for July:

We've had a cancellation for the week commencing the 20th June in Owl cottage. If anyone would like to experience some Devon sunshine and scenery with their dogs. With an exercise field, woodland walks from the door and views to die for. We're the perfect spot for your dog friendly break.
