Good morning,

For those of you who can’t make the funeral of John Lewis of the Barry music shop and JPL sound and Communications, which takes place today at 1400 hrs at The Barry Crematorium,

The procession will be passing by THE BARRY MUSIC SHOP at approx 13:30hrs today.

We aware that John had many friends in this area.

We John's family Jane, Cathy, Trefor, Gareth, Amy, Oliver, Nichola, Alan and our family dogs Cranogwen and Dulcie are overwhelmed, touched and humbled at all of the messages, many of you would be unaware that John had a family, as obviously you are aware JPL and The Barry Music Shop was his family, his life, his whole existence.

We have been absolutely blown away by all of the outpourings and amused that a lot of you knew the "real" John.

As we muddle through all of this Cranogwen and Dulcie (dogs) wait by the front door for his return.

It is with a heavy and saddened heart that I write this post this morning.
Yesterday evening John From JPL Sound and communications and The Barry Music Shop Passed away.
For many decades John has provided sound stage and lighting for countless amount of people throughout Wales and England
John was integral to shows that stretch back as far as the horse and flower show that used to be held in Romily park and right through until his passing yesterday he was providing stage sound and lighting for Ty Hafan on Barry Island.
With all of his experience and knowledge he was always keen to help new events such as Cadstock Rhoose Summer Music festival and GlastonBarry as they were starting up offering advice and also equipment.
It is only now as I sit here and write this that I realise the magnitude of the empire that he built.
John not only provided sound for music events but also horse and agricultural shows throughout Wales he also worked with the athletics world providing stage sound and lighting to events as far away as The Windsor half marathon. He also was involved in the Western beach race and covered the entire front of western beach with sound equipment with the recognisable JPL SOUND logo.
John was a big supporter of the church and often provided for their events and shows without charging them.
For one man he didn’t half get around
The list would be far to long to write about all of the things that John was involved with but trust me when I say there are very few people that did what John did
He will be greatly missed by the town he loved and provided so much for
And even though he was our boss he was also our friend.
You will be greatly missed John

Yet more new canvas roof sheets being replaced on some of our Pop-Up marquees supplied by Surf & Turf our preferred supplier!
Still working on some new events plus getting kit ready for an extremely busy Christmas period this year🎅
If you have not yet booked in your Christmas Event - whether it be Christmas Lights Switch-On, or Christmas Fayre or Parade or our wire-free sets of speakers along your local high street with festive music - then we do have to advise that we have very few dates left this year - the odd Friday and the odd Sunday and that’s about it!
Our compact 6m x 4m Covered Stage is all over the place this run up to Christmas - so talk to us very quickly if you have forgotten to book stages, sound, lights or power!

Another Shure SM58 counterfeit microphone brought in for repair!
The good old red and black wires to the capsule and no transformer down in the handle - just a chunk of metal with a bit of Chinese paper screwed up with a lump of hot melt glue to hold it all in 🤔🤣

Another batch of Loudspeakers all tested and prepped ready for our visit to Weston Super Mare for the start of the get-in for the Weston Beach Race 2023!
It’s rather early this year, so it clashes with Windsor Half Marathon & Running4women’s 10K, so this makes it even busier than normal this coming weekend!

Day two of the Caerphilly Little Cheese Festival 2023, our Europodium Stage out again - 3rd time in the last fortnight- with our super HK Audio Linear 5 System.
Just a note - yes the subs are on stage as the viewing area rises steeply upward from the stage and it sounds better with them on stage! Sometimes you have to break the rules and experiment😀
You will note the top boxes where the very top box is inverted so as to align the hi frequency drivers correctly!
We also have a commentary unit and outdoor sound systems at this event on other parts of the site covering a main display arena, not forgetting another member of our team who is over Barry Island Food Festival in charge of all the electrics being supplied to all the stalls!
Not stopping after this weekend - first thing Monday morning a quick van load up and off to Usk Show with our Double Deck Commentary Unit for the start of the get in for the largest one day Agricultural Show in Wales!
