We took over Devonshire House in 2004 and have been welcoming guests from all over the world ever since. Between us we have notched up 45 years experience in the hotel industry and have used that knowledge to create a relaxed place to stay with a personal touch. We invite you to spend your time in Bath in our well-appointed Victorian house, where you will receive a warm welcome from us both. Our f

amily owned and run bed and breakfast features five refurbished ensuite bedrooms, with coordinated soft furnishings and homely touches. From up-to-date magazines, the morning paper and free wi-fi to fresh milk for your tea, we have tried to think of everything you may need to make your stay a comfortable and enjoyable one – a real home from home. The room price includes a cooked breakfast, choose from a Full English or Smoked Salmon and scrambled egg along with toast, juice, cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurt. If you are planning a longer stay in Bath, Laburnum is our charming, split-level cottage, ideal for a couple or a family of up to four. The cottage has a fully-fitted kitchen with washing machine, a spacious living area and sleeping area upstairs. Devonshire House offers free on-street parking for those coming to Bath by car. If not, the bus stop is just a few hundred yards away and buses stop approximately every 10 minutes during the day, taking you to the bus station in the city centre. Alternatively it is just a 20-minute downhill walk to the city.

Our Story

A chef, a hotel manager, an expanding family and a home city of Bath, that is how our journey into B&B began.

2004 saw us want to break away from our very long working week and have the time to bring up our family together. Living in the historic city of Bath and with our experience in the hotel industry the purchase of a B&B seemed a logical step.

We love Bath and we love welcoming guests to our home and our city. Everyone has a different requirement for their stay, it may be business, a weekend away, a brief stopover - but we welcome every guest and give them local hints and tips to improve their stay even more.

Any questions or queries, hints or tips, just ask. We have tried to think of everything, from fresh milk for your tea tray, mugs or cup and saucer - your choice, magazines, a local paper, along with the basics, en suite, individually furnished rooms with personal touches, a spacious guest lounge and a breakfast room with a fridge for your use. Louise is the upholster, whilst Chris is the chef. You can enjoy a freshly cooked breakfast or a breakfast basket in your room - due to the unprecedented pandemic we are changing our breakfasts so that guests are more comfortable in the way it is served, staggered timings in the breakfast room or room service.
