The George Inn - Norton St Philip With a history dating back to 1397, The George is one of Britain’s oldest taverns. Philip, near Bath.

The George is a historic 14th-century Grade I listed Tudor inn, located in the heart of Norton St. With a history dating back to 1397, The George is one of Britain’s oldest taverns, offering 14 charming ensuite bedrooms full of original features and the perfect base to explore Bath and the Somerset surroundings. On the menu our focus is seasonal, locally sourced produce and exciting takes on pub classics prepared by one of chefs, Aimie Harley who won Salon Culinaire’s Pub Chef of the Year 2024. What an evening with , celebrating our collaboration b**r, Hops & Glory, at the debut ‘Battle of the Brewers’ event at The Prince of Burford!

Guests enjoyed a fantastic selection of b**rs from both breweries, perfectly paired with canapés, while hearing the stories from behind each brew from the experts who brought them to life.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so special- we can’t wait to do it all again at the sold-out Battle of the Brewers event at The Punch Bowl in London. See you there! 🍻

The awards celebrate the very best hospitality and tourism businesses across the region, recognising excellence in customer experience, quality, innovation and outstanding service.

As part of our Butcombe Boutique Inns collection, The George Inn and The Swan are passionate about creating memorable stays, combining beautiful, boutique bedrooms, exceptional food and drink and warm, welcoming hospitality in some of the South West's most characterful locations.

The George Inn will be closed on Saturday 10th October due to a private hire event. We’re sorry for any inconvenience and look forward to welcoming you back as usual on Sunday 11th October. ❤️

But don’t worry, while The George is closed, The Fleur de Lys will be open from 10am–11pm! 🍻

We’ll also be serving food from a limited menu, so there’s still somewhere to pop in for a bite to eat and a drink.
