Here are a couple: the Classic’s a self-explanatory all-timer. We’d say they’re just comfortable, easy-on-the-eye, ensuite doubles, but there’s no “just” about it. Their stylish, individual designs ensure they’re beautiful bolt-holes.

And Superior? To what, exactly? Well, it’s bigger than a Classic, for starters, and if, for you, a room needs a sofa, a coffee table and all kinds of lolling-and-sprawling space, then look no further …

Apparently Christmas rather suits us.

We were very pleased to discover The Queensberry included in The Times’ 30 best Christmas hotel breaks in the UK— and even more pleased with their verdict:

“Best for Georgian grandeur.”

Bath does have a habit of looking particularly lovely at Christmas. Twinkling streets, Georgian terraces dressed for the season, a little shopping, perhaps something warming along the way — and The Queensberry waiting when you’ve done quite enough festive wandering.

Add dinner downstairs at The Olive Tree and we can see why they rather liked the idea too.

We’ll take this as official permission to start talking about Christmas...

The Jane Austen Festival is still on (until Sunday 20th), but even once its bonnets and bodices have been packed away, the seams of Bath’s September will be bursting, as per.

Quite apart from the Children’s Literature Festival (starts on the 25th), you’ll find comedy, theatre, jazz, food events, evenings with writers, great food and drink (year-round, granted) plus galleries, museums and – of course – fabulous and interesting shopping …
