In Loving Memory of Brother Henry John Jackson
10th September 1937 – 16th August 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brother Henry John Jackson. A dedicated Freemason, Henry served our lodge and others throughout his life, achieving the ranks of Past Assistant Grand Director of Ceremonies, Past Provincial Grand Warden, and Worshipful Master. His contributions to Freemasonry, including his work editing our early magazines, left a lasting legacy.
Outside of the Craft, Henry had a remarkable life as a journalist, author, and historian. He worked as a parliamentary correspondent, edited several well-known publications, and was a recognised expert on Second World War Signals Intelligence, publishing extensively on topics related to Bletchley Park and codebreaking. His love for learning continued into his later years, mastering skills such as Morse code and even Russian during lockdown.
Henry was a man of great intelligence, warmth, and humour, with a passion for sports—especially his beloved Arsenal and cricket. He was devoted to his family and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
Rest in peace, Brother Henry. Your work here is done, but your legacy will endure in our hearts and within the Masonic community.
