Tell me you own a spaniel (other breeds also apply) without telling me you own a spaniel… I’ll go first.

Every pair of shoes I own has a matching odd one somewhere in the house or garden, thanks to a certain spaniel. 🐾😂

Dogs are very welcome at Whatley Cottage and The Boathouse, but if I greet you wearing odd shoes, I’m not mad — Pilot has just stolen one and hidden it somewhere only he knows!

We have late summer availability for you and your lovely dogs. Message or comment for more information or to book.

A little weekend job to help make your arrival that bit easier! 🌿

We like to make sure our guests can find Whatley Cottage and The Boathouse without any hassle, so this weekend all of our signs have had a little spruce up.

Just a short drive from Beaminster town centre and you’ll arrive at your holiday cottage, hopefully feeling relaxed, unfazed and ready to unwind.

And judging by the last photo… I think Pilot approves too! 🐾

Did you know that alongside looking after Whatley Cottage and The Boathouse, I also grow dahlias? 🌸

If you’ve stayed with us during dahlia season, you’ll probably remember arriving to find a beautiful vase of freshly cut blooms waiting for you in your holiday cottage. It’s one of my favourite ways to welcome guests and share a little of what I love.

If you haven’t visited us yet, we still have some late summer availability from mid-August onwards. It’s a wonderful time to explore the Dorset countryside, enjoy the coast, and, of course, see the dahlias at their very best.

If you’d like to book a stay or would like more information, please do get in touch. I’d love to welcome you. You can message me here or email me on [email protected]

💐 Do you think fresh flowers make a holiday cottage feel extra special? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!

We are delighted to be able to offer a second holiday cottage at Whatley. The Boathouse, our recently converted former workshop, has been thoughtfully remodelled to create comfort and relaxing holiday accommodation for your stay with us.

Set in a beautiful rural location and just a gentle stroll from the thriving town of Beaminster, the town offers a fabulous selection of independent shops, including a bakery, greengrocer, and butcher, plus gift shops, galleries, restaurants, and even a museum!

The Boathouse has been created “upside down” to take full advantage of the rural Dorset farmland and countryside views. The open-plan kitchen blends with the elegant dining area and then seamlessly flows into the generously proportioned lounge. From there, a door leads to the elevated balcony overlooking the historic millpond, where table and chairs, steamer loungers, and BBQ facilities are at your disposal.

Downstairs, the spacious but still cosy bedroom affords the comfort of a super-king bed and a smart TV.

Beside the bedroom sits a well-appointed, generously sized bathroom, which includes an oversized bath and a separate shower.

The entrance hall offers the convenience of a large, well-lit, and heated desk area should you need to work during your stay with us. Dogs (other pets by arrangement) are very welcome at the Boathouse.

Parking is located immediately outside the front entrance of the Boathouse, with easy access through a five-bar gate to your private, enclosed garden beside the millpond.
