Did you know now is a great time to spot harvest mouse nests!? With the leaves falling from trees, these amazing creatures' nests become more visible. Look about a metre off the ground in reeds and grasses for a tennis ball sized round nest.
Obviously we'd urge you not to disturb them, but if you see a nest, please send us your photos and let us know where you saw it.
We had our very first sighting of a harvest mouse at Upton Heath Nature Reserve this year - which is really exciting!
Did you also know that harvest mice are the only UK animal with a fully prehensile tail? They use it like a fifth limb for climbing! ~ Cat

Join us this Saturday for a gallery talk by local artist Michael Blooman. Michael will be delivering a talk on 'The Fossil Foreshore Triptych' which is currently exhibited in our museum. Michael will be with us at 11am and this gallery talk is free with normal museum admission.

Old School Gables

Welcome to the Old School Gables, set in the heart of the West Dorset rural village of Drimpton. This beautiful Victorian cottage offers comfortable accommodation with uninterrupted views of unspoilt, rolling countryside. Close to the Jurassic Coast, guests can also enjoy easy access to Devon, Somerset and the Wessex region. The cottage provides modern and well-equipped living accommodation for up to 4 people.

The immediate area offers excellent walking, cycling and golfing opportunities with local bus and train services providing convenient links to the larger towns of Exeter, Weymouth and Taunton. Bridport (West Bay) is approximately 20 minutes by car and Lyme Regis about 25 minutes. There are many attractive and easily accessible beaches along the Jurassic Coast between Weymouth and Exmouth, which are well worth a visit.

Old School Gables has its own secure off-road parking (for two cars) and a badminton/short tennis facility for exclusive use of our guests. The gated grounds provide a safe and secure area for young children to play in.

Throughout the year, Old School Gables is offered on a weekly/fortnightly package basis (changeover day Friday), however, tailored short break packages may be arranged during off peak times on request.
