THE SHEBBEAR HISTORY PROJECT –
CREATING A COMMUNITY DIGITAL RESOURCE

Today we are delighted to announce that the Shebbear History Project launched a new website dedicated to the heritage of the parish.

The community-led Shebbear History Project was originally conceived during the dark days of the Covid-19 Lockdown when records relating to the village started to be gathered in both paper and digital form. The intention was to create an online community heritage resource for current and former residents of the parish which has been achieved with the launch of this website.
Initially, a limited selection of material will be available but new items will be continually added - so watch this space for updates!

Alongside the new website, a further ambition for the Project is to find a space to safely store and display a collection of tangible archives relating to Shebbear which will have regular open access for the local community

The Shebbear History Project would like to thank Councillor James Morrish (Devon County Council) for supporting the project via the Locality Budget Funding Grant, which made the creation of the dedicated website a possibility.

The website can be found at the link below. Hopefully people will be inspired to step forward with donations of memories, photographs, documents, absolutely anything that represents our shared history, or can give some time to support the work of the Project.

We know this isn't news to regular visitors to Devon, but this article highlights just how nice Devon is and how it compares to other regions of the uk. Our lovely neighbours Somerset and Cornwall come very high up the list too.

Here is a partial quote;

Devon didn’t just top our rankings – it blew away the competition, with 79 points separating it from second-placed Cumbria. In a nip-and-tuck competition, this represented a chasm.
Simply put, it has everything. Two national parks and five AONBs (worth a total of 110 points), 13 Blue Flag beaches (52 points) along its 495kms of coast (46 points – second only to Cornwall). Nine RSPB reserves (45 points), an RHS garden (20 points), and vast tracts of woodland (9.9 per cent of Devon is tree-covered, according to the Ordnance Survey, a fact worth 38 points). That’s the natural wonders covered.

Fancy getting a tattoo? You could do worse than booking a stay with us and checking out this very talented Shebbear artist to ink your skin.

So today i got the chance to tattoo the queen 👸 😀 (progress shot)

1st part of a london themed sleeve.
Unfortunately I didn’t quite get her completely finished today 1 more small sitting needed to fully bring her to life,
can’t wait 🤘thanks to my client for sitting so well

And before anyone says that I’m making money off of the queens passing,
this was done absolutely free of charge as I wanted to do the piece as a tribute and to add to my portfolio 👍

We wish all our customers, past, present and future a happy new year.

An article has been brought to our attention about all the beautiful places we have in Britain. Despite very strong competition, Devon comfortably came out the top destination.

We look forward to seeing more of our regular visitors and new faces in 2023.

Today Lyn and Paul have been checking out another potential visitor attraction.
The wonderfully quirky Jolly Roger 3D models in Bovey Tracey offers a large collection of their work that can also be purchased. There is also a number of great motorbikes on display with a cafe there too.
It's a day trip for locals and tourists alike, great for youngsters and big kids too.
