One of our garden residents, they’re usually seen in the rain. It’s named the Common Frog but I’m always excited to see one because I’m sure they aren’t that common 😊

This is a man made concrete fish ladder. Its purpose is to enable migratory fish species, such as Atlantic salmon and sea trout, to move upstream from the River Cocker into Crummock Water and beyond to reach spawning grounds, and to allow juvenile fish moving downstream to pass safely as well.
12 miles downstream at Cockermouth it joins The Derwent and on to the Irish Sea.
