Headline: A showery few days. More settled to end the week.

Today: Some bright spells for a while first thing. However, showers spreading across the country as the day progresses, some of these being heavy with hail and thunder possible. A cooler northerly breeze developing. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Tonight: Showers reducing in number during the evening but some continuing overnight, chiefly around western coasts where they could still be heavy and thundery. A cool night with clear spells elsewhere. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Friday: Another showery day, with a few of these again possibly thundery with hail. Driest in the far east of the country with sunny spells. Feeling fresher than of late. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday: Becoming more settled with an increasing number of sunny spells. Small chance of a shower on Saturday. Temperatures below average for August but feeling pleasant where the sunshine emerges.
