Preston LOL 870, Ballymacarrett LOL 870 is an Orange Lodge within District LOL No 6 and the County Grand Lodge of Belfast dedicated to the Memory of John Preston.

We are an active lodge at the heart of the community in East Belfast and are always on the look out for new members.

It is with deep regret and immense sadness that the Officers and Members of Star of Down LOL 428 report the passing of our Treasurer, Bro Timothy Young PM. He was an integral part of LOL 428 life and a great friend to us all and will be immensely missed by everyone. Deepest condolences to his son, Bro Daryl Young PM, and his brother, Bro David Young PM, his wife, children and the entire family circle. At rest.

At the monthly meeting of the Grand Orange Lodge of Belfast held in Clifton Street Orange Hall on the 2nd May 1912, the following resolution was passed. 'That the Grand Orange Lodge of Belfast on behalf of the Orangemen of Belfast desire to express their profound sympathy to all the relatives and friends of those who perished in the Titanic disaster. They share to the same extent the universal feeling of pride created by the heroism of passengers, officers and crew in the face of certain death, they feel especially proud of the devotion to duty and courage by those connected with Belfast and Ulster, and the family and friends of the late Mr Andrews and all others belonging to this district whose valuable lives have been cut off by this visit of Providence they desire to convey their heartfelt sympathy '.

Year 14 history students from Dromore High School kicked off the first of this year’s educational visits to the Museum of Orange Heritage in Belfast, made possible through our partnership with GOLI, which gives young people the opportunity to explore local history, culture, & heritage through interactive learning experiences.
