It was Christmas a few years ago. We had just lost my grandad who was my father growing up I lived with him and my nan all my life... Saying bye to them
both in a short space of time and my family home was horrific & grief was consuming me...
It was our last Christmas with the *magic* around us with my children & being a hairdresser December is hectic. As a mother you don't have time to breathe this time of year it's so stressful.
Stress of spending so much money, visiting all the family worrying not to miss anyone out... and all the children wanted to do was play and make memories.
I remember feeling so depressed and dull. So we stayed in my aunts caravan and completely escaped. There's no words to describe my aunt she's the most beautiful person.
We collected Lucie's new bike from Halfords on the island instead & hid it in our friend Michelle's caravan opposite 😂 (thanks Michelle) Packed up all the presents, took my sister the dogs and off we went.

Food shopping was delivered to the caravan. I ordered from local companies for my meat, veg etc.
I learned to slow down. The first Christmas I ever did this... and the island has a magical way of making you do this
We went with very little money. We didn't need it.
We chilled, walked with muddy wellies, slow cooker was on every day. Although the cooker did break Christmas Eve 😂 But the team on site did everything to fit a new one within the hour for us 👏🏻
Honestly if you feel any bit of how I felt here... You will not regret taking yourself away ❤️
My husband works shifts as he is a member of the emergency services on the motorways so he's on nights for Christmas this year otherwise we would be there again.
I really would love someone to experience the magic of the island at Christmas that needs to just breathe again.
Taking time out is so important & when you need it... we are here for you 🩵✨
