t example of Elizabethan Fortifications which surround the town and make for an excellent and fascinating walk. The famous walls took 12 years to build and protected the town from both the Scottish and English armies. Being on the main East railway line our own Royal Border Bridge is also a world famous architectural gem. There are numerous local attractions including the famous Border Abbeys, historic Castles including Alnwick, Bamburgh, Lindisfarne, Norham and Floors also celebrated country houses such as Manderston, Paxton, Abbotsford and Mellerstain. A must visit are Holy Island (Lindisfarne ) and the Farne Isles, which are home to thousands of nesting seabirds including the ever popular puffins. On the seabird theme North Berwick is also a short journey north where the largest colony of Gannets can be viewed. The spacious bedrooms are tastefully furnished and decorated to a very high standard. Twin or super king sized beds.
