I was just checking that the Garden Room was set up well for the next guests and spotted our very wooden hobbycraft mannekin has learnt some great dance moves 😎😆😎 ... we had planned the space around some inter-generational sensory fun, a possible microtheatre and definitely with enough space to roll out a yoga mat, but now we could stop calling it a Garden Room and refer to it as a dance studio?

Glengoyne Lodge is now open for bookings

We’re pleased to be opening Glengoyne Lodge at Auchengillan Outdoor Centre to wider group bookings.

The lodge was built and recently redeveloped by the 77th Glasgow (Disabled) Scouts to provide accessible accommodation for disabled young people and adults, including those with additional support needs and more complex care requirements.

The fully accessible ground floor includes accessible bedrooms, toilets, showers, changing facilities, hoist and spacious communal areas. There is also additional accommodation upstairs for carers, support staff and group leaders.

The lodge sleeps up to 21 people and is suitable for Scout groups, schools, charities, ASN groups, community organisations and residential programmes.

Any surplus from bookings is reinvested into the work of the 77th Glasgow (Disabled) Scouts.

Just a quick Friday greeting from the Schoolhouse

Fridays are our gardening and double check-up days which, today, has been dodging rain showers, sweeping up leaves quickly befire the wind bkows again ... and taking photos when the sun broke through too.

We just wanted to say, we are listening to guests, and their repeated message is of frustration that we are only available for bookings upto July 2028.

Please bear with us. We deliberately set up an accessible holiday cottage on a fast time scale. Guests stayed, intermittently, in 2020 and 2021 due to the covid restrictions followed by the internal and external adaptations. Our first Accessible Stays were in June 2022 and, to date, we have been able provide 252 weeks of Accessible Stays with another 16 weeks already booked in.

We do need to take time out and review the long term maintenance and energy performance of the Schoolhouse but our passion for accessible accommadation still rumbles on.

We will be sharing a bit more of our journey in November but in the meantime would like to thank all our current and previous guests as your support has made all of this happen.

September shoutout for the Causeway ...

This is the first time I have walked onto Holy Island via the Causeway ... so lovely, geese flying above, curlews, oyster catchers, little egret catching some fish and a seal popping to check us all out.

When you arrive at the garden door we have a wide level access patio area, the kitchen and dining area is large enough to be wheelchair kitchen disco friendly 🕺🎶🦼🎶🕺and theres an upper patio space for summer outdoor dining too

A washing machine, tumbledryer, blenders for all the blended diet enthusiasts, and a little honesty box for the toothpastes and the shower that were forgotton at home.
