What a treat ...

We had guests visit who have been super supportive when we first set up the Schoolhouse.

Ben and Cat stayed before the adaptations and let us know how much they enjoyed the top of the garden. Their comments really encouraged us to make the whole garden accessible. They are now based in Northumberland and being very creative themselves, gifting us some of their eggs from .greenpastures

Alex and Becky from Fenham Farm Coastal B&B have enabled us to meet up with our wider family while staying at the Schoolhouse. Fenham Farm has a wheelchair accessble lift providing access to their stunning communal lounge overlooking Holy Island.

We have enjoyed the Fenham Farm Alpacas , Alex interpreted my sketchy plans 🙄 brilliantly and built the new Garden Room in a very cold and rainy November and Becky left us a beautiful tea towel

So what is a microtheatre ...

A quick google search suggests 'a performance movement featuring very short plays - usually 10 to 15 minutes, performed in tiny spaces, small rooms, shipping containers or cafes for an audience of 10 to 15 people'.

We have:

👉🏽 two comfy, two fold away camping chairs and a lovely floor cushion.

👉🏽 a performance space

👉🏽 our secret 'in the wings' buddy support seat with, props, accessible rocker switch lighting

and it's accessible ... maybe this means we need to create a new catagory 'mini-microtheatre'

Our big news ...

For all our subscribers you will have heard this news already - to all our followers, we want to update you with the same information.

Louis and I have enjoyed creating and running the Schoolhouse in Fenwick for the last 6 years.

We have put a lot of thought, and prayer, in this year. We feel we need to focus our time on a variety of different family circumstances and the longer term requirement to improve the Schoolhouse's energy efficuency and maintenance levels has led us to the conclusion that it is appropriate to only keep running the Schoolhouse untile the end of July 2027.

We have been on such a big journey - finding and adapting a property in such a stunning location and then seeing Changing Places UK facilities becoming available in Berwick, Alnwick, Bamburgh and even on Holy Island.

We have been warmly welcomed and well supported by the friendly village of Fenwick and are so grateful to all of our guests who have enjoyed staying in the North Northumberland whi have been the heros that have made this happen.

Our booking calendar has 2 weeks available in November 2026 and then only February to July 2027.

For guests who are looking for next summer we recommend Accessible Holiday Escapes. They are a great place to find similarly equipped cottages ... and if there is anyone interested in setting up a new accessible cottage in the Northumberland Coastal area do get in touch - we are very willing to share our experience if it is beneficial.
