🌞🌠 Who’ll be keeping their eyes on the skies tomorrow?
There's a double whammy of celestial treats on the way — a spectacular partial solar eclipse, followed by the peak of the Perseid meteor shower! 🔭✨
And where better to enjoy the show than Northumberland?
Home to Europe’s largest area of protected night sky, Northumberland has plenty of places to hunker down and look up. There are Dark Sky Discovery Sites, dedicated observatories and plenty of wonderfully quiet spots where you can spread out a blanket and watch the heavens come alive. 🌙
Tomorrow’s eclipse will happen while it’s still daylight, creating an eerie change in the light — and no doubt prompting a few confused birds along the way! 🐦🌞 Who's going to be peeping through a pinhole camera or wearing a welding mask?!
Then, as darkness falls, turn your gaze upwards again. The Perseids are reaching their peak, with shooting stars streaking across those wonderfully dark Northumberland skies. 🌠
So why not make a plan for your next Northumberland escape? Find a quiet spot, grab a blanket, switch off the lights and lie back beneath a properly dark sky.
And don’t forget to make a wish when those shooting stars start flying… ✨
