Another fabulous event for our town, residents, and visitors! 👏🏻

We’re delighted to announce all those participating in the first year of Berwick Open Studios! Launching this autumn with around 25 venues showcasing over 60 artists and makers. The inaugural Berwick Open Studios takes place on 26-27 September and 3-4 October this year. Artists, makers and creatives across the Northumberland town will open their doors to the public, with open studios, exhibitions and opportunities to buy original art.

Berwick Open Studios project manager, Abigail Thomas says: “Berwick is packed full of artists, studios and creative venues. It’s a location which inspires through its landscape, heritage and stories, and this can clearly be seen in the art which is made here.”

Save the date in your diaries. More details coming soon!

Sidey Court...behind the door, you will find a hidden town centre oasis. The large private courtyard is the perfect spot to enjoy a slow morning coffee, unwind after a day exploring Berwick, or simply soak up a little peace and quiet in the heart of town.

What’s in a name?
We chose The Avenue Townhouse as a tribute to the building’s original name: The Avenue Hotel.
Built in 1899 by local developer Joseph Weatherston, the property was established as a temperance hotel. It quickly became a popular stop for Victorian travellers, including members of the Cyclists' Touring Club and visitors arriving by rail following the opening of the Royal Border Bridge in 1850.
More than a century later, this listed building continues its tradition of thoughtful hospitality in the heart of Berwick-upon-Tweed.
A new chapter, with a respectful nod to its past...and storage for bicycles!
