I am back with a new venture. Ever dreamed of running a bookshop by the sea? Now you can for a week part time or full time. And when not in the shop, explore the many many delights in this corner of God’s Own Country. Loftus is near Whitby between Saltburn n Staithes. Similar to The Open Book in Wigtown for the shop part which is booked up for two years with a waiting list.

There will be event holidays too such as Relationship MOT weekends and Writer’s Retreats and Digital Detox House Party. That is for starters.

We’re part of the North York Moors, few steps away from the winning bakery in the capital of cake competition, a new arts centre with 10 artist studios, lots of pretty stations forming the steam railway inc one used in Harry Potter film, more cute fishing towns that you can shake a stick at etc etc. On our doorstep are walks in woods with waterfalls just behind n over the road North Road leads to a coastal path with stunning scenery.

If more local, Loftus boasts 3 free car parks so why not make a day trip out of it to cone peruse our excellent selection of second hand books. Due to cancellation is the last chance ever to book Frida Kahlovan in Berwick upon Tweed on 11th August weekend for two nights. I am selling it and handing back keys on 19th August to Haven. Very sad but glad so many have loved their stay there.

I love this Airbnb review from Patrick who stayed with colleague as were working in the area. He is keen to return in September with this wife. "Absolutely brilliant. Loved every minute of our stay. Excellent host and responds immediately with clear and concise instructions. This caravan was amazingly decorated and I felt very positive and relaxed when I left even though we were still working. Spotlessly clean, warm and very comfortable. I will book again. Thank you Marta."

My caravan in lovely quiet quaint Berwick upon Tweed has a quirky homely Mexican theme which our guests love and is really well equipped as our home from home. Sleeps 5. 3 bedrooms. Shower room n separate wc off master bedroom. Kids from age 8 up accepted owing to decor. No pets unless from end of August onward is a small dog that will never be left in caravan alone and never goes on seats/beds but happy to be on bed on the floor. Is on Haven Berwick Holiday Park.

An hour by car from Edinburgh/Portobello. Two beaches, the town with amazing parks/walks inc coastal walks on the doorstep and lovely Northumberland gems to explore like Lowry art walk, Duddo Stones, Chainbridge Honey Farm, Bamburgh Castle, Paxton House n river walk, Holy Island, St Cuthbert’s cave and cave on beach 400m away too, cruise to see dolphins etc etc

What are you waiting for? A great time in a great place to be had 🙂. Bring your mum, the friends, the kids or your love interest! Or come write that novel or to work from home somewhere different.

This cave/beach is just 400m from the Frida Kahlovan. Wasn’t Monday a gorgeous day? We were both working from home from the van and in our lunchtime we went for a walk to the beach.

Stopped en route to the caravan to photograph the statue outside Dunbar in homage to Wojtek the bear who was a Polish soldier, yes it is true and who after the war lived out his days in Hutton then Edinburgh Zoo. Why? His keepers did not want him returning to Soviet run Poland and becoming a symbol of communism. Do Google his story in full. Not ideal that he was ever in captivity or ate ci******es n drank beer but he followed what the men did and carried ammunition for them.
