Amazing weather today up at Berwick-Upon-Tweed with the sunshining but enough of a breeze to allow a steady walk from Coronation park to our fav cafe and then round the ramparts, before nipping to the shops and back to the caravan.

Have you done any of the local walks when visiting?

If you are a Steam train enthusiast and in Berwick-Upon-Tweed this Saturday there will be the Edinburgh Flyer travelling from York to Edinburgh and back.

There is plans for it to stop in Berwick-upon-tweed on both its northbound (around 11am) and southbound (around 7pm) journey's, so you should be able to see it along the train line if interested.

Things nobody tells you about Berwick-upon-Tweed:

1. It's changed hands between England and Scotland 13 times. The town has serious identity issues.

2. The football team plays in the Scottish league despite being in England. Because why not add to the confusion.

3. The Elizabethan walls are the most complete in Europe. You can walk the entire circuit.

4. The salmon fishing here used to be the best in Britain.

5. Three magnificent bridges cross the Tweed - OId Bridge (1624), Royal Border Bridge (1850), & Royal Tweed Bridge (1928).

6. L.S. Lowry spent his holidays here for 28 years. You can see why.

It's not a big town. But it's got proper character and a fascinating history.

Plus, you know, stunning coastline and empty beaches.

What's your favourite bit of random local history? πŸ‘‡

Caravan holidays are not just for families/groups, they can be for couples as well!

Here's a plan for couples who want to spend time together:
πŸ“ Northumberland coast
πŸŒ… Sunrise beach walk (just the two of you)
β˜• Lazy breakfast in your pyjamas
🚢 Afternoon exploring Berwick
🍷 After dinner drinks on the decking watching the sunset
πŸ”₯ Evening by the fire with no distractions

No ticking clocks.
No outside noise.
No world beyond the decking.

Just... actual time together.

Pre-season prep checklist (what happens that first weekend in March):

The park's been closed all winter for maintenance. I can't access the caravan until 1st March when Haven reopens.

So that first weekend, here's what happens:

βœ… Deep clean EVERYTHING (not a quick wipe - proper deep clean)
βœ… Check all appliances work & PAT testing done (oven, microwave, fridge, heating)
βœ… Replace any missing kitchen items
βœ… Change the seasonal decor
βœ… Clean windows inside and out
βœ… Scrub decking and outdoor furniture
βœ… Check every lightbulb (new hallway lights this year to install)
βœ… Stock welcome essentials

This is what happens before you arrive. Every. Single. Season.

Because when you walk through that door, it should feel like nobody's ever stayed there before.

Clean. Fresh. Ready.

What's your biggest expectation when you arrive at holiday accommodation? πŸ‘‡

Right, here's what's happening...

First full long weekend of March (5th - 8th March), I'll be up at the caravan for the first time since November to get everything prepped and ready for our first guests.

Deep clean. Stocking essentials. Testing everything works. Making sure it's absolutely spotless for our first guests.

And I've got a question for you...

Is there anything you'd like to see?

Behind-the-scenes cleaning? Kitchen setup? Bedroom tour? Local area updates? What the caravan looks like after winter?

I'll be taking photos and videos throughout the weekend, so let me know what you'd actually find useful to see.

Drop your requests below πŸ‘‡

P.S. Interest for summer is properly building now. July's nearly full and August is filling fast. If you're still thinking about it... maybe stop thinking and actually book for just Β£50 today! πŸ˜…

🎲 Help us grow our family games cupboard! 🎲

One of our favourite things about caravan stays is those cosy evenings in, no rush, no screens (well… maybe just one πŸ˜„), and time spent together.

Right now, we provide a selection of board games for all ages, including Ludo, Trivial Pursuit, and a few other family favourites. But we’d love to make it even better for future stays.

πŸ‘‰ What games do you love playing with your family while on holiday?
Card games? Quick-fire party games? Something competitive that gets everyone laughing?

Drop your suggestions in the comments, we’re genuinely excited to build a games collection that our guests actually want to play 🧑

And if you’ve got a firm family favourite, tell us why!

March/April in Northumberland vs. July/August in Northumberland

Plot twist: We love both.

March/April: (when we're closed but still beautiful) - Dramatic skies, wild seas, cosy pub lunches, zero crowds

July/August: Long days, warmer sea (ish), morning coffee on the deck, family fun at Haven

Here's the secret: Northumberland doesn't really do 'bad' seasons. Just different vibes.

Our caravan's heated, so even chilly spring weekends = cosy evenings with the fire on, board games, and a bottle of wine.

πŸ“… Opens 12 March - just 6 weeks away!
