πŸ₯§ PROUDLY MADE IN-HOUSE! πŸ₯§

There’s something pretty satisfying about making everything from scratch β€” and our homemade quiche is no exception!

From the pastry to the filling, it’s all prepared right here in our kitchen by the team. And here’s Jordan, looking rather proud of his latest creation! πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³

Proper homemade food, made with care and served fresh at The Mug House.

Come and give it a try! πŸ˜‹

Look Who came to visit!
Margaret Cook & Tony Ward's grandparents( Thomas Harold Ward & Lottie Charlotte Ward) were the licensees at The Mug House in The 1940s.
It was a great pleasure & a real treat meeting Tony & Margaret.

Great start for the weekend.

A brief History of The Mug House Provenance:

β€’ 17th-Century Naming: The name "Mug House" comes from a popular 17th-century term for an alehouse.

β€’ River Trade: Located on Severnside North, the pub sat alongside a busy inland port on the River Severn.

β€’ "Muggin": Local traders and bow haulers historically sealed business deals at the pub over a mug of ale, an old practice known as "muggin".

β€’ First Landlord: The first recorded landlord was John Smith, who managed the tavern during the 1820s.

β€’ Beerhouse Status: In 1836, John Smith reduced the pub to a beerhouse to cut down on expensive government licence fees.

β€’ Crowded Pub Scene: By 1841, old Bewdley recorded 71 public houses,😲 creating one of the highest license concentrations per capita in the country, with the Mug House serving as a central hub.

β€’ Ownership Changes: Benjamin Smith took over as licensee in 1849, followed by lantern maker Henry Southern in 1860.

β€’ Brewery Mergers: The pub joined the Worcestershire Brewing, Malting Company Ltd in 1846 before transitioning to the Kidderminster Brewery.
