We can’t quite believe it’s the middle of September. August feels like a lifetime ago 🤍
•
Long sunny days until the very first little hints of autumn began to appear. Warm sunshine, dramatic skies, colourful Appledore streets and evenings that slowly began to draw in 🤍
•
We’ve had a wonderfully busy summer down here in Appledore. A flurry of family visits, gorgeous walks, drinks & dinners with friends, cosy evenings enjoying our local pubs and restaurants, and of course welcoming more lovely guests to our cottage by the sea 🐚
•
And as August became September, another lovely guest described our cottage as “beautifully renovated, with every aspect carefully considered” It was also lovely to read that they particularly enjoyed The Royal George and Appledore Flame Factory - two of our own favourites and both only a short stroll away 🤍
•
Now we’re halfway through September and looking forward to golden evening walks, visits to our special place - Arlington Court, stocking the log burner and everything this next beautiful season brings to Mariners Cottage 🍂

Anyone who knows me knows I love planning a celebration. Birthdays, weddings, special occasions, you name it, I’ll be involved 🫶🏼

So when the loveliest couple told me they were booking Mariners Cottage for their mini-moon, just after their wedding, I knew I wanted to make their arrival feel that little bit extra special 🤍

Having had the pleasure of meeting Katie, and knowing just how talented she is, I knew the graze box would be beautiful, and it’s safe to say it went down a treat when L&J checked in today 🤍

A beautiful time of year. A mixture of May bank holidays, lighter evenings and the glistening sea sparkling under golden hour 🫶🏼
•
What does it mean for you? For us it’s been family visits over half term, beachy walks, road trips through winding lanes, cosy days at the weekend between the rain showers, rock pooling adventures, and noticing the wildflowers and lavender our the walk down to the cottage, a cheeky Aperol in the sunshine. It’s also been cosy evenings at The Champ listening to amazing live music. Slow, simple days that feel like everything.
•
June is also a special one for us, as celebrate our second wedding anniversary, we can’t believe how quickly that’s come around. It’s also Murphy’s very first summer, he’s making the most of every single moment, and loving his life by the sea 🌊
•
We’ve welcomed some really lovely guests, and are now up to over 100 five star reviews on Airbnb. Every message that’s thoughtfully left in our book, every message we see when you review us really does mean the world to us, and for this we are so grateful. Yes it’s a juggle at times, and of course a cottage that’s over 100 years old will always need a bit of extra care & attention, but, it’s all worth it 🤍
