Lynton and Lynmouth funicular Cliff Railway opened in 1890 and is the highest and the steepest totally water powered railway in the world!

The Cliff Railway is in the heart of Exmoor National Park and connects the twin towns of Lynton and Lynmouth.

At Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park, conservation and education are at the heart of everything we do. From caring for endangered species such as our Amur Leopards to inspiring young explorers through daily animal presentations, we're proud to play our part in helping people connect with wildlife and understand why protecting our planet matters.

Did you know? Many of the species in our care face challenges in the wild due to habitat loss, climate change, and human activity. By learning about these incredible animals, we can all become part of the solution.

Join us this Thursday 22nd August to explore the shoreline around Westward Ho! Meet the rangers on Westward Ho! slipway at 2pm. We will walk from there to scramble across the rocky habitats below the sea pool searching for crabs and fish as well as seaweeds.

Free event, no booking required. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Northam Burrows rangers are preparing for a busy Autumn of nature conservation work and the call has gone out for volunteers to help with the next round of vital tasks. Help from volunteers to look after the Country Park and other Local Nature Reserves is crucial for the protection of the local environment but also offers a great way for people to get outdoors, keep fit and have some fun with like-minded people. Get in touch if you would like to give it a go! If you'd like to start with a gentle amble then seed harvesting (Weds 21st August) or a plant survey (Tues 3rd September) might be a great place to start or if you'd like more of a work out then dune fencing on Weds 16th October is more fun than going to the gym!
