Cannot believe the frenzy that is now considered normal at this time of year. Watching the news this morning, showing the mobs trying to get into the supermarkets to grab their "bargains", I was reminded of film footage of piranha fish threshing about in their thousands, feeding on fresh meat! To quote John and Yoko "...So this is Christmas..."!

Good night at the Club here in Hamsterley last Friday - great group - Looking Back - shame there were only 34 in the hall. Still had a great time, but we need our members to start coming in more often!

Down to Thirsk today for a rare day off, and a great lunch in the Golden Fleece. Walking around town we popped into our favourite shop in Thirsk - Thirsk Hardware.(www.facebook.com/pages/Thirsk-Hardware/377171875726414?ref=stream) This place is a delight - from window displays to the range of goods supplied (all those hard to find things that you always need, but can never find - I have been hunting for weeks for lined rigger gloves for those bitter cold mornings on the quad bike - staring me in the face as we walked in.) Add friendly staff and a perfect location in a real country market town - bliss! If you are in the area, give it a try - you will not be disappointed. [email protected]

In March 2013, Chris and Pauline Moran became the new owners of Woollons and Harwood, which is now known as Thirsk Hardware Ltd.

First hard frost this morning - out in the wood feeding the pigs and the pheasants - did not realise just how cold it was at 7am - I hate getting old - poor circulation, everything leaks, can't hear anything....ony consolation is that the alternative is not to be considered!!!!! [email protected]

Two guys from Fulham up to see Tow Law v Celtic Nations a couple of weeks ago, one chap from Manchester to tick off Esh Winning v Billingham last Wednesday, and today a guest from Worthing in Sussex to see Bishop Auckland - www.bishopafc.com - play Birtley Town. Up to Edinburgh yesterday to see our Frankie - so beautiful, just like her Mum. Had forgotten just how tiring it is looking after a 21 month old - absolutely whacked out after just 4 hours! Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh ( www.rbge.org.uk ) well worth a visit. [email protected]

Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) is a world-renowned scientific centre for the study of plants, their diversity and conservation.

Spoke to our Vic today, out in Africa. Job is very tough, a tremendous challenge but she is loving it. Been dealing with the police and military authorities, resolving various issues to ensure smooth relations with them. I am so pleased she has so many friends to keep in touch with her....and of course our Dani - who is off to somewhere just as dangerous very soon
