❤️ An Important Announcement ❤️
After a great deal of thought, we've made the incredibly difficult decision not to renew our lease at The Bay Horse Hotel, Wolsingham.
Our journey began on 4th April 2022, and our final official opening day will be Sunday 28th March 2027.
This isn't a decision we've taken lightly. When we first took on the Bay Horse, our annual rent was £20,000 + VAT. Since then, it has increased to over £34,000 + VAT, with further increases planned from April 2027. Sadly, despite all our efforts, those rising costs mean it is no longer financially viable for us to continue.
While the financial reality has led us to this point, what we'll remember most are the incredible people who have walked through our doors over the last five years.
To every customer who has joined us for a pint after work, enjoyed a family meal, celebrated birthdays and anniversaries, stayed in our hotel, supported our events, or simply popped in for a chat—thank you.
You've helped make the Bay Horse so much more than just a pub and hotel. You've created an atmosphere of friendship, laughter and community that we'll cherish forever. We've made memories and friendships that we'll take with us for the rest of our lives.
Although saying goodbye is heartbreaking, we'd love nothing more than to spend these final months doing what we've always enjoyed most—welcoming you through our doors.
If you've been meaning to visit, please don't leave it too late. Come and see us before Sunday 28th March 2027 for one last meal, one last drink, or simply to help us celebrate everything the Bay Horse has meant to so many people.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your loyalty, kindness and support over the past five years. It has truly been an honour to be part of this wonderful community.
Here's to making a few more memories together before we close this chapter.
