The first ever Brass Picnic at The Story Durham was a huge success at the weekend as nearly 3,000 visitors came to enjoy the very best of brass music from across the region.

Families were able to enjoy food, as well as take part in craft activities and face painting in the Story grounds while listening to the Durham County Brass Band Association competition.

10 bands took part with the Felling Band coming out on top to take home the George Bramfitt Shield.

There is more Brass music to come across County Durham this summer when Durham Brass Festival returns 12-19 July 2026
