The area also has ruined and working castles to explore, Victorian farming museums, gastronomic delights in Ludlow and fantastic independent shopping in Shrewsbury. Just 10 minute drive to the Long Mynd and 3 miles from the Stipersones, designated a site of special scientific interest. Interaction with Guests

The detached barn is a short distance from the house, and is completely independent from it and not overlooked. We aim to give guests privacy whilst also being available to answer any questions, so please do ask if there's anything you need, we're happy to help where we can. The location is very rural, so a car and driving directions to the property will be essential. We're happy to pick you up from the local pub if we're around! The Neighbourhood

The property is very rural, surrounded by beautiful countryside with stunning views and star-filled night skies. Steeped in peace and quiet, it's located within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with Sites of Special Scientific Interest very close by. It's ideal for walkers, cyclists, nature lovers and kite flyers! The Shropshire Way runs alongside the main house. The Stiperstones and the Long Mynd are just a few minutes' drive away. The immediate area is great for birdwatching, romantic walks or more challenging hill walking, cycling, riding, golfing, gliding and hang gliding. Our nearest town is the picturesque Bishop’s Castle, just a 10 minute drive. There’s a pharmacy, Co-op, petrol garage, bank, and The Three Tunns brewery and pub. There are lots of pretty villages and market towns, castles, woodland and hills to explore for good food, local music, book and arts festivals, houses and gardens. It's the perfect location for a rural getaway in so many ways. The county town of Shrewsbury on the banks of the river Severn is just a 25 minute drive away; much loved for its fine buildings, cobbled streets, museums, restaurants, and independent and high-street shops. Ludlow, famed for its castle, food fair, Michelin starred restaurants and beautiful architecture is a 40 minute drive away, and the drive passes medieval Stokesay Castle. A little further afield are the famous gardens at Powys Castle and The Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site, and for book-lovers Hay-on-Wye famed for its antique and book shops is about an hour's drive away and hosts a great literary festival every year. Getting Around

A car is essential for exploring the local market towns and bringing luggage/supplies. There are regular buses to/from Shrewsbury from Bishop Castle (Minsterley Motors). Masses of great walking and cycling. The property is in a valley which makes a wonderful walking/cycling circuit, approx. 5K. Other Things to Note

We don't provide a cleaning service but happily provide weekly fresh bed linen and towels. Storage for bikes in our barn can be arranged. Sainsbury's will deliver. There is a lovely riverside pub in Ratlinghope serving great food and locally brewed ale just a couple of miles away.
