Important Please Read: A Beautiful 2026 Michaelmas Fair All the elements were in place. The sun shone! Lions, Dragons and Morris Teams danced alongside each other. Wonderful live music from the top to the bottom of town. Exceptional steamers and vintage vehicles. Magical lanterns. Great entertainment and stalls. And lots of families and visitors all having a great day out. We would like to thank the Michaelmas trustees and committee members and all the volunteers who helped on the day and all the wonderful entertainers!
We REALLY DO need new people to join the team to help shape and run this beautiful fair. It’s a much-loved event. This year a couple of key committee members are stepping down. We need some new people to join the team to deliver a fair in 2027!!
There are comprehensive plans and guides to running the event in its current form and an experienced committee to help support, including a chair and secretary. It’s an amazing opportunity for someone with energy and vision to have this event in their portfolio - and as the fair had a good year, we are in a position to offer some remuneration for someone to take on the coordinator role (Pay to be discussed with applicants).
Without additional help the fair will not be able to take place. So if you can spare some time and would like to help shape and deliver the 2027 fair, we would love to hear from you. Every contribution, big or small, will make a difference. If you are interested, please contact [email protected].
Thank you to everyone who came and supported Michaelmas 2026 and made it one of our best years yet! The provisional date for next year's fair is set for Saturday 4th September 2027. This is subject to an adequate number of people joining the team to plan and prepare this wonderful event. Come and be a part of this magical, memory making day in a very special town!

Please like and share with anyone who you think might be interested in the Fair Coordinator Role or joining the committee in a smaller capacity as there are a variety of roles with different levels of commitment.

THE POPPY HOUSE IS OPEN! 🌿

After a little soft launch on Friday, a rather busy Michaelmas Fair Saturday, and a Sunday spent ironing out the odd little detail (and probably drinking far too much coffee ☕️)… we think we’re finally ready to tell you about it!

The Poppy House Café is officially open! ☕️

For now, you’ll find us Wednesday–Sunday, 10am–5pm, serving coffee, cake and a selection of bagels.

And from Friday, we will be launching our full menu, just in time for the weekend — bringing you brunch, bagels, coffee & cake in the heart of Bishop’s Castle. 🥯☕️🍰

So pop in, say hello, grab a coffee and enjoy our wonderful little café in the heart of Bishop’s Castle. 🌿
