"Brigadoon is just perfect. It is a beautiful place to retreat to. It is without a doubt the most comfortable, most beautiful, best equipped, most spacious, cleanest holiday cottage I have ever stayed in. The owners have thought of everything and beyond. The views across the Ridgeway are stunning and the garden is a gorgeous sun trap. The little village is just perfect with walks out into the stunning countryside right from the front, and back, door. It is indeed a little piece of paradise”

There are two parking spaces on the paved driveway off the road directly in front of the cottage. The large covered front porch provides storage for walking boots and gear.

In the entrance hall there is space to hang coats leading to a utility room with a washing machine and dryer.

The kitchen is spacious and bright. There is an electric Range cooker and oven, fridge, dishwasher and a large Belfast sink. The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, toaster and kettle and kitchen utensils available. There is a kitchen dining table for four people and a door leading to the patio and garden.

The living room has a bay window bringing in south facing light and warmth. There is a large wood burning stove which will be made ready for you to light on first arrival. Extra wood is available on request. There is one wide sofa bed to accommodate a fourth guest if required.

A writing desk in the living room provides a dedicated space for working if required. High speed internet is included and available throughout the property. A smart tv allows you access to your streaming services.

Upstairs are two large bedrooms with large, bright south-facing windows and views. Room 1 has a king size bed and a large wardrobe. Room 2 has a single bed. There are shelves and a small wardrobe. Both rooms have electric radiators. In the bathroom there is a bath with a shower over and a heated towel rail.

On the sunny, south-facing patio you will find a bistro table and chairs from which to enjoy the view. Feel free to use any herbs from the patio planters for your drinks or meals.

The steps leading down from the patio bring you to the lower garden and down to a decked area. This little suntrap space is incredibly private and the perfect spot to relax in the garden. Across the lawn from the lower deck there is a gate and steps down to the village footpath know as The City.

You should note that this is a traditional cottage and has varying ceiling heights. In the sloped and terraced garden there are steep and uneven steps and level changes. Younger children should be supervised. If required there is a gate at the top patio level to prevent access to the lower garden.

Driveway parking for two cars is available in front of the cottage which is easy to access along the main road through the village.
There is a gate at the bottom of the cottage garden to 'The City' pedestrian only footpath leading to the pond and stream or to the valley leading to the Ridgeway Path.
Longer walks along the Ridgeway will take you to several historic landmarks within a half or full day's walking - Wayland's Smithy, Ashdown House, Uffington White Horse, Ashbury village, Liddington Hill.
Within driving distance for a half or full day out include Avebury stone circle and village, Cotswold Water Park, Lacock Abbey, Marlborough, Hungerford, Cirencester, Faringdon and Oxford. There is a good regular bus service from Shrivenham to central Oxford. Shirivenham is 5-10 minutes drive from the cottage with plenty of free parking. Here you will also find a post office, two delicatessens and larger convenience stores (Co-op), and takeaway restaurants.
The nearest supermarket is Sainsbury but there is a Waitrose and Tesco within 15-20 minutes drive as well. All major supermarkets will deliver to the cottage if you have online accounts.
Apart from the village pub there are several good pubs in the local area from Ashbury to Wanborough.

The cottage in centrally located in a beautiful rural village setting, overlooking thatched cottages and Ridgeway fields and surrounded by farms.
Short walks around the village include chalk streams, mill pond, farm life and tranquil gardens. Walk to the Ridgway path in fifteen minutes through the chalk valleys and lynchets.
The village pub, a minute walk from the cottage, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a small shop for essentials, local products and takeaway drinks and snacks.

This beautiful terraced cottage in the picturesque village of Bishopstone is centrally located, with easy pedestrian access to village amenities as well as good access to main routes and attractions in the area. The views are some of the best in the village, looking out towards the Ridgeway, with the warm, private, south-facing patio being ideal to enjoy them. In winter the wood burning fire makes the whole cottage cosy and warm. Need to work? Use the dedicated workspace and high speed WIFI.
