WBro Derek Haigh recently visited the National Memorial Arboretum in Leicestershire, he made the journey with some Friends whom he'd joined the Army with, as they paid respects to fallen Comrades and he came across the Masonic Grove. This commemorates the 3 - 4,500+ Masons that died in the First World War, as Lodges were normally formed from villages or towns and many men joined from the same place, many Lodges just disappeared with the loss of the servicemen who were killed on mass.

North Shore Lodge 7916 would like to thank Mrs Jackie Brown, daughter in law of WBro Sydney Brown a founding member of North Shore Lodge for returning his founders jewel, these are very hard to find and it means so much to the Lodge to have it returned to our safe keeping. Thank you so much.

1. You already think you know everything.
Freemasonry tends to ruin that illusion pretty quickly.

2. You need instant answers.
Masonry is frustratingly slow. Sometimes it takes years before something “clicks.”

3. You can’t handle symbolism without yelling “cult!”
Every staircase, compass, or apron will send you into cardiac arrest.

4. You hate old men telling stories.
Unfortunately, some of those stories contain more wisdom than modern podcasts.

5. You expect secret world domination.
Most of the time we can't agree on what to order for dinner after the meeting.

6. You dislike self-reflection.
Freemasonry has an annoying habit of making a man confront himself.

7. You need constant entertainment.
No explosions. No boss battles. Mostly architecture, philosophy, history, and awkward fellowship.

8. You think brotherhood means blind agreement.
Masons argue constantly. They just usually shake hands afterward.

9. You want perfection from imperfect men.
A lodge is basically humanity in miniature: wise men, flawed men, funny men, stubborn men.

10. You’re unwilling to work on your rough edges.
Because at the end of the day, Freemasonry isn’t really about secrets. It’s about the uncomfortable process of becoming better.

Each year in May, North Shore Lodge 7916 selects a member of the Lodge to become Worshipful Master for 12 months and this year it was WBro Kevin Jones turn to occupy the Chair of King Solomon. The Lodge was opened at 4.30pm by the current Worshipful Master Bro Jordan Potter. Jordan then proceeded to open the Lodge in the 2nd and 3rd Degrees and at that point, several Grand and Provincial Officers entered the Lodge. Bro Potter then presented a list of Charities receiving donations, to the Representative of the Provincial Grand Master WBro David Stuart Thomas APGM, totalling £3000. Next Bro Potter invited WBro Anthony Lea to occupy the Chair of King Solomon to carry out the Installation Ceremony of Kevin Jones. Once WBro Jordan Potter closed the board of Installed Masters, the Officer's of the Lodge were installed by WBro Kevin Jones under the direction of the Director of Ceremonies WBro Ramon Ashton. There were 64 Masons present for the Ceremony including several Assistant Provincial Grand Masters and several members of United Grand Lodge of England. After the Ceremony all the Lodge members and visitors retired to the dinning room for our festive board (3 courses) where a great time was had by all and a further £466 was collected for Masonic and Non Masonic Charities.

This is the end of our Masonic Season and we resume mid October 2026 and we will still be looking for men who want to make a difference to themselves and their communities, if that is you contact this page for further information.

Each year worthy Brethren are either given a first promotion to Provincial Grand Lodge or gain a higher promotion. This year our very own Brother, WBro Michael Shakespeare received the honour of his very first, and very senior promotion to Past Provincial Assistant Grand Chaplain of the Province of West Lancashire, extremely well done Michael.
