Seeking to ensure that all gay travellers consistently receive a warm and friendly welcome, a select group of gay hoteliers have formed an association identified as ‘ BAGS ’ (Blackpool Accommodation for G**s)

Every gay visitor to Blackpool has the option to select from over 60 establishments in the BAGs association (guest house, hotel or holiday flat, providing well over 2,000 gay friendly bed spaces) with the assurance that the accommodation is gay owned, and the proprietor therefore fully understanding and appreciative of guests varied lifestyles and sexuality. Offering advice to those guests who may not be familiar with the Blackpool scene about the best bars, clubs etc., the BAGs members try to ensure that a visit to the Gay Capital of the North becomes a memorable one, and as enquiries for accommodation are reciprocated within the group, very few people are left disappointed! BAGs is a well established, recognised association within the Blackpool community, has its own chaired committee and written constitution and incorporates numerous associate members running many different businesses

Other holiday town gay hotels have tried a similar concept, but none have succeeded as notably as BAGS.

Join Electric Pink Voices and five fellow local choirs for Where We Belong – Sandgrown Song Cycle: six new songs inspired by LGBTQ+ lives in Blackpool, celebrating identity, resilience, pride and belonging.

Blackpool Rainbow Alliance is proud to have contributed to this community project, with the complete song cycle set to premiere at Hand in Hand Festival 2027. 💜

WORLD FIREWORKS CHAMPIONSHIP BLACKPOOL – OFFICIAL UPDATE

We know so many of you have been asking about a new date for the Germany display following the cancellation on Saturday 10 October, so we wanted to bring you an important update.

Our team has explored every alternative option to reschedule it. However, a combination of tide times, existing event commitments, road closure requirements and increasingly unpredictable autumn weather has made it impossible to safely reschedule the display this year.

While we’re disappointed that we couldn't wrap up the series from Germany, we would like to announce our official 2026 champions! 🏆

Following two spectacular weekends in September where Celtic Fireworks (Wales) and Fireworks for Africa (South Africa) lit up the Promenade, our panel of judges assessed each display and we have a winner!

A HUGE congratulations to Fireworks for Africa, representing South Africa, who have officially been crowned the 2026 World Fireworks Champions Blackpool! 🇿🇦

Even though this year's fireworks competition has drawn to a close, Blackpool's packed autumn and winter events programme is still underway:

✨ Lightpool Festival: Returns next Wednesday 21 October to celebrate its 10th anniversary with light installations, 3D projections, and art trail through to 31 October.

⛸️ Christmas By The Sea: Returns from Friday 20 November to Sunday 3 January 2027, transforming the Tower Festival Headland.
