Birdwatching in the Cairngorms can look completely different depending on where you wander. 🦅

Up on the moorland, you may spot eagles overhead, while the lochs attract ospreys and goldeneye. Head into the woodland, and you could come across crested t**s or the Scottish crossbill, a species found nowhere else in the world!

It’s worth looking beyond the views. Some of the National Park’s most memorable sights might be moving through the trees or circling above you.

Aviemore makes it very easy to fill a free day!

You could ride the funicular up Cairngorm Mountain, meet the herd at the Reindeer Centre or take a journey on the Strathspey Steam Railway. There are also wildlife experiences, family attractions and plenty of indoor options when the weather turns.

Many of the area’s best-known attractions are within a 20-minute drive of the village, so you can see plenty without spending most of the day in the car. 🚂

One of the joys of exploring the Cairngorms is never quite knowing what you might spot.

A red squirrel darting through the trees or an otter appearing along the riverbank can turn an ordinary walk into something you’ll never forget! The National Park is also home to harder-to-find species, including mountain hares, pine martens and the endangered Scottish wildcat. 🐾
